clicking noise (NOT AXLE) and tranny problem

i've recently started hearing this clicking noise coming from underneath my car.
this isn't the infamous axle clicking problem either.
the clicking noise only happens up to about 50mph and it's only audible if u drive near a sidewalk and it echoes back to you or if you have your windows closed, you can hear it coming from underneath the car.
sounds more like playing cards stuck to a bicycle wheel. clicking gets faster when my speed goes up.

also ever since i started hearing the clicking noise, sometimes when i pull my car out of 2nd or 3rd gear, the vibration through the shift **** is a lot more noticeable.
the shift **** rattles and when i move the shift **** to the left in neutral, it rattles harder.
when im cruising in 6th gear, i can feel some constant knocking feedback thru my shiftknob.

anyone experience any of these problems or know about them?
i'll probably take my car in next week to have it checked up but i wanted to be more aware of the problem before the dealership tells me some kinda excuse to not fix my tranny.

thanks in advance

Can you tell if it's left vs. right or front vs. rear?

You might want to make sure you don't have a small rock stuck between the tire treads or something embedded in one of your tires causing the clicking. Probably not that simple, though -- and certainly wouldn't explain the shift **** rattling.

sound is definitely coming from underneath the car around the center area.
it sounds nothing like something embedded in the tires. i checked them also

speaking of the devil, i had the exact same symptoms. i took it to the dealer and they confirmed it's the axle clicking TSB but i doubt that. i first thought it was a worn down brake pad, then some loose hardware. after replacing the transmission, the sound just disappeared. take it to the dealer, and have them diagnose the problem on a test drive.

I had a similar problem after installing the 3.92 gears - it was an exhaust leak! Sounds like big ugly flapping and something banging around under the car under throttle or tranny breaking at speed only. I could feel it in my shifter and brake pedals...everywhere! Took us 3 days to figure it out - tightened a few clamps and all gone!

Do any mods lately?

i got exhaust put on around october. and i recently got sways put on about 2 weeks ago.
from what u're describing, it sounds like an exhaust leak. is it simple as tightening a couple bolts or is there more to getting rid of the leak if that was the case?

I would just raise it up, and tighten all the flanges and clamps that you have.

Also - I had most of the clamped connections welded, and had 2 flanges installed just before the differential for system removal if needed.
