Alright guys, i was on my350z, and ran across this thread. I tried it myself, and wow it makes a big difference, feels like a whole new car.

ps you might have to adjust the cruise control, its the switch that the clutch hits when fully disengaged.

this has been discussed before a while back. some say that the adjustment is fine, others think that it will cause premature clutch wear. we could not come to an agreement.

 

I just called Infiniti of Scottsdale and they told me that yes there was a way to adjust the clutch by doing the above method.

Then I asked if I could do it myself and the guy told me to look online, otherwise they could charge me for it.

Then he said that it wouldn't affect the life of my clutch.

 

Thanks a lot man for posting this here. I just did it and took me 5 minutes. Guys, dont adjust it too close to the floor, this will wear your clutch out. I have it coming out right about say...2 inches from the floor. Not too close, but closer than the awful stock setting. Thanks Again !

 

Im going to call up my local dealership and see if it can be done and if they are willing to do it for me at no cost. I've heard from many people that this mod causes premature clutch wear. If my dealer does it, and it does infact cause my clutch to die, theyll be replacing it at their cost

 

Yeah, saw and read about this adjustment last year on another G forum. One person, whom had made the noted adjustments, had issues afterwards. I was about to do it, but decided against it.

 

There should be no issues. All we are doing is changing the adjustment. Thats why the rod is adjastable. its ok as long as you dont go all the way low enough where you are riding the clutch when peddal is al the way out.
Dealer said it was ok

 

Ya i dont know how it can cause premature wear. This mod just lowers the pedal, it has nothing to do with the clutch. All i can say is that, the car is much funner to drive now.

pretty cool - the high engagement is one of my biggest gripes about this car - I drove a Cooper S a couple years ago and the clutch was awesome, practically push button.

 

wow... it is indeed more fun to drive! the length is almost identical to my brothers s2k's length... to me it gives it more of a sporty feel, quick punches and stuff good stuff!!!!

 

I did the adjustment 3 years ago and I have no slippage in my clutch - even though it's still making that annoyn chattering sound like before. It definitely made the car much easier to drive. I tried to drive a coupe without such adjustment the other day and it felt very awkward.

 

So it is indeed safe to do?

 

I think that^ question is still open to debate, but as others have mentioned a small adjustment should be ok.

I also thought this would be my first mod and then backed away at the height of the Big Debate. But the OEM point has caused me to slip the clutch a bit too much (IMO) over this first year of ownership. I'm about ready to try it now, as the OEM clutch is feeling a bit weak and I'm not about to put in the NISMO clutch/flywheel I have before getting a better engagement height of the pedal and relearning at that level.
