Newbie wanting to do mods

Hey all,

My name is jacob and I've got a 05' G35 6MT sedan and it needs to go faster What are some good bolt on mods that will increase performance on a completely stock motor? I've heard that z-tube and plenum spacers are a good place to start. Where should I go after that? I don't quite have the cash lying around for forced induction, but I am hoping to get there soon. Thank you for any and all help.

test pipes and exhaust are a good route to go after intake and plenum mods if you want to do simple bolt-ons

yeah I want to start out that way atleast. This is a brand new car and I would really hate to mess it up by trying to do a turbo install without the proper experience. I've worked on Trucks and Jeeps for many years, but nothing this precise (or small)

That's why you have someone install it that knows what they are doing. If you don't know, don't try. But i would recommend saving for FI. If I could do it again, I would have just saved up for FI w/ a built engine.

Yeah I know not to try stuff when I don't know what I am doing. I've got a decent bit of technical experience with trucks and jeeps as I have regeared axels, set up 4 link suspensions, installed headers, etc. However I've never worked with cars where things are so packed together. I'm gonna start out simple and go complex eventually.

well, if you have experience turning wrench, i would say you can do it
yourself. i i dont see any problem with that..

just start off with something simple... like z tube, popcarger, or any kind of bolt ons..

plenums, test pipes are good if you get it tuned afterwards.. with test pipes, dont forget to install spark plug follower or your check engine light willl come on..

headers..... they are just time consuming.... think headers usually have clearance problems... but i think strupp headers has best clearance results in less time to install... if im wrong, some one clarify please...

anyways, good luck on your mods, i will have my z tube for sale maybe next week if you want it...

Keep your eyes in the classified section here and on my350z.com for a Z-tube and a JWT pop charger, AEM, or Stillen CAI. Then MREV or spacer and exhaust. From there you need to decide if you are going to go FI in the future.
If you don't go FI then go with headers, cams, test pipes, ECU flash or UTEC.
If you do go FI you will need to decide which one before any of these.

Good luck and remember the search function will become your best friend!
