help w/ grounding kit

What up G's!? I have a few questions about the Stillen Grounding Kit. 1) Do you actually feel the difference when it is installed? 2) What are the estimated HP gains? 3) Is it easy install or do i have to take it to the shop?
I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

Re: help w/ grounding kit

I dont have the stillen but, from mine I got smoother idle, quicker start ups, smoother acceleration, no hp difference. I think I saw somewhere that they got .9hp on a 350z. Easy to install just look at some pics of it installed unscrew a couple of bolts and thats it. Ahh for the battery one I did mine through the rubber.

Re: help w/ grounding kit

The GM of the local Infiniti dealer that sells my GroundingGear™ says he spoke with Stillen who claims 14 HP. I think that's a bit over optimistic a claim.

You should have no problem installing Stillen's kit which is 5 wire I believe. Should take less than an hour.

Not that I've heard. I know a few that said they were going to dyno. I read over at my350Z a few have dyno'd with gains of about 4-6 HP, not sure with what kit, nor what ground points though. I just did a local 350Z and a VW VR6 that promise to dyno in a few weeks. They both have done reference runs.

Re: help w/ grounding kit

Sounded like snake oil to me too, at first. I know that Turbo & High Performance Magazine were very skeptical as well. Then in their April 2003 issue, they Hyper-Grounded 3 cars. To their amazement, there was a HP increase in every car on the dyno, anywhere from 4 to 15.3 HP! More noticeable from the G35 crew and the 350Zs, is significant smoothness and better throttle response. This has consistently been noted by virtually all feedback. Even in blind tests ie. spouses, etc. that were not told of the mod, there are numerous reports of "what did you do to the car?" So the mod is not only backed by dyno runs on some vehicles, there is a mountain of empirical data that supports it as well.

I am the leader of the kingdom of skepticland. I get my GroundingGear soon. I don't expect much. But I will definately give my opinion after a week of driving it.

Re: help w/ grounding kit

Other than Z-Xtreme, I don't usually recommend getting anything other than a commercial kit. The kit quality can be variable, and it may do little for your car other than look cool under your hood. If you're lucky, it will make a difference. Mind you, a lot of ppl pay over $100 for dress-up items like shift ***** and pedals that do nothing to improve the performance of your car! Then they economize on a mod that has the potential to actually do something! It's like putting fake disc brakes behind your wheels and saying Brembos suck!

I would never recommend even a poorly designed commercial kit like AeroSpeed where engineering takes a backseat to style (other than the cheap tinny terminal lugs) that sells for over $200 CDN locally, looks cool installed, but virtually everyone I've talked to says the AeroSpeed kit did nothing for them!

My fear has always been that ppl will install these things and because of their poor experience with them, tell everyone they tried a Grounding kit and it was all Snake-Oil!

So it depends on what you want the kit to do. I advise, if you're on a strict budget, make your own, you have a better chance of making a kit that works. The cost of materials in GroundingGear™ is more than many kits are being sold for on E-Bay!

Sorry to sound harsh, but if you believe that Hyper-Grounds may help your ride, pay for a decent quality kit. If not, buying a cheap kit off E-Bay may or may not reinforce your skepticism! Even Z-xtreme stopped selling his kits on E-Bay, and I know he makes a good quality kit!

Re: help w/ grounding kit

I experienced the same results (smoothness, quieter idle, "better" shifting, etc) as everyone else.

I used the Z-Xtreme kit.

Don't f- around with anything less.
