My Dyno numbers.....very interesting

So today I had 3 Dyno pulls and had very interesting results. First please see my Signature for a list of the current mods on my 6 spd REV-UP G. Now today was pretty good weather at about 78 degrees when the 3 pulls were done. I just finished the header install and did the dyno pulls, I didn't get a chance to reset the ecu and or let the ecu "learn" the new headers. So keep in mind these pulls were done on a brand new DynoJet machine and WITHOUT a fan. Guess the shop was still waiting for the fan to be delivered.

247.23 HP and 279.23 TQ

I am guessing the lack of fan and my 19x10.5 Volks arn't helping my numbers too much.

I will reset my ecu and try to get another set of Dynos run with a fan this time and see how that goes. As far as air to fuel to looks to be around 15.75 and drops to as low as 13.25 closer to redline.

John

Those are some good numbers, especially your tq.

But I would have expected your hp to be more in the 60ish.

Nice numbers!! Even if the HP and torque numbers were flipped, I would be happy.

At first I didn't believe my eyes with the TQ but after 3 runs the TQ was ranging from 278-279ish. My car seems to be running lean so next up is a tune.

Tune would definately help both numbers.

I would rather have 280 torque and 247 hp like you do than 280 hp and 247 tq.

+1 on both points. Gotta love good torque numbers! After all, that's basically what gets your car in motion...

That can't be right because those torque numbers are way off the mark. It really makes no sense for the VQ35.

Are the high torque numbers because of spikes in the runs? I've had similar readings when the didn't pull a proper spark connection. Also, are those SAE corrected numbers? It's hard to get the full reading on that odd dyno chart. Air across the radiator and intake should help with the numbers. Where did you get your car dyno'd at?

Jeff,
you are right after looking over my dyno chart the TQ did spike near redline to 279. Seems like the TQ before the spike toped off at around 249 and pretty much was around there till the redline spike. I will be getting a tune soon (my air fuel is so high, near 16) and hopefully will have a more accurate dyno. Dyno was done accross the street from Sam's automotive where you plan to have your dyno meet and I am sure they are SAE corrected. Also the pulls were done in 3rd gear.

3rd gear?!? They really must be new to this if they're not finding the proper rpm signal wire to connect to and they're running a 6spd G in 3rd gear. The majority of people run 6spds in 4th (and sometimes 5th), while the ATs are usually run in 3rd (and sometimes 4th).

No offense man, but this dyno was a waste of your money. For one, the only time a dyno should ever be conducted without a fan would be if one were a sadist. Period. The more airflow, the better. Another issue(already mentioned), though much less severe, is the choice to dyno in 3rd gear. Theoretically the gear shouldn't matter on a dynojet, but it does. Expect a 2/3hp difference from 3rd to 4th, and again from 4th to 5th. The hp variance isn't the point; spinning up the roller in 3rd gear simply happens too quickly. And like others have mentioned, your numbers are way out of whack. No NA vq has such disparate hp/tq numbers, and transposed as that. 4DrSkyline is right; it's probably a spark connection causing the spike. That's not uncommon.

Wait a month for the shop to get a little more experience, and go back. Make sure you do it in 5th(unless you're a sedan). And make damned sure you have a nice sized fan.

Do you have the run files, or just the print out?

If that A/F is measure via a tailpipe sniffer I would not trust it for ****! A/F really needs to be measured with a sensor installed in a bung right before the cat.
