Free mods?

I'm a noob about g35's and I was wondering if there are any free mods that could be done to the G35 Coupes to get some more hp. If so what are they?

Thanks

Re: Free mods?

- Full "HKS STI" body kit
- "carbonfibre" hood scoop
- "chrome" "BBS" "alloy" rims
- "Nimso" fuel cap and decals
- "JDM" headlight conversion
- "chrome tipped" true dual exhaust (not shown)

Not completely free, this will cost you atleast $2 worth of cardboard and tinfoil.
PM me for more details.

Re: Free mods?

I contacted my supplier and I think I can get you the front mounted "intercooler" for about 25cents. we might even work on a group buy if enough people are interested.

just to clarify, all the parts came to be about $2 incl. tax & shipping
and the install took many hours and is not an easy job. So these mods are not completely free, but as close as you will get I'm afraid.

Re: Free mods?

Thanks but I was looking at asnwer about horsepower gains, IMO taking out the jack and spare tire wouldn't be a smart thing to do on a daily driven car

And sorry to the moderators, I posted this in the wrong place, I shuold have posted this under modification and technical forums

Re: Free mods?

you want free mods AND give more HP? now that is asking a little too much methinks.

could you give us some examples from other cars that have free mods with HP gain? I mean, short of ripping out your exhaust system and running on open headers, you gotta replace those parts with something else, am I right?

the only free mod I can think of off hand, is adjusting your clutch to reduce the distance you have to press.

I wish there was a hidden **** on the engine. turn clockwise to increase horsepower, counter-clockwise to reduce it.

Re: Free mods?

Stealing mods would be considered free, that's if you can steal whole exhaust systems and such without making too much noise. hehe. HP costs money and the more HP you want the more money you better be prepared to dish out.

Re: Free mods?

In the good ol days, on cars like the 5.0 mustang GT you could remove a restrictive airbox resonator, bump the timing 3-4 degrees (via a simple turn of the distributor), and end up with 10-15 free hp. I don't see anything free on this car (or most late model cars now).

Re: Free mods?

Some dealers will adjust your timing up to the max stock setting (usually a 2 degree advance is available) with the Consult-II for free but most will charge the minimum shop fee if they will do it at all (50.00 or so). that is good for better throttle response and not much else on this engine.

Yes you can remove resonators bu the only way that is recommended is to buy the stock Z intake tube (search) which eliminates the resonators.

Cutting off the exhaust resonator can be done but the sound is not very good unless you replace the muffler too or throw in a 80.00 Magnaflow.

So to answer your question NO, but there are alot of under 100.00 mods out there (resonator replace, Z tube, Timing advance, K&N panel filter) to give you another 5-10 hp total. Best performance gain for the dollar would be some mo betta tires unless you got the Pilot Sports already.

Standard stuff, ECU, Intake, Catback and Headers will run you 2500.00 at list prices. These are the next cheapest way aside from NOS. Those four=35 whp add'l approx.
