Interested in oil analyses? Did a 2nd one...
Here's the data...

All in all, the results aren't bad. Also posted it on bob's site to get additional feedback... if anyone's interested I could post the link tomorrow.

Why are you switching to the Mobil1 oil filter? That's what I have now, and all this talk has me thinking I should get the Purolator on my next change.
Here's one for comparison.. this was the Pennzoil 5W30 with an OEM filter that the dealer put in around 3750. I've switched to Mobil1 now.

ryoken... I was thinking of switching to the M1 filter for better filtration, to filter out more particles, preventing them from recirculating in the oil, to hopefully reduce additional wear. But it looks like it didn't help you. I'll stick with the prem plus.
Your iron and copper are high, as is your silicon. The high iron and copper may be normal for the low mileage on your G, the silicon though shows an unusually high amount of dirt being let in through the air filter... mine shows similarly but not as extreme as yours. Your lead is far better than mine though.
BTW, I've been told that target wear numbers of two PPM per thousand miles is good, anything higher should be considered too high.
You'd think the same engine would show similar results. If the main variable here is dino vs. synthetic, your next UOA should indicate results similar to mine. Then again, mileage and driving habits may factor in more than we suspect.
Oh, one of the responses over at bob's suggests that the high lead wear is normal for the VQ, supported by UOAs on maxima.org. I'm about to head over there to take a look.

Re: Interested in oil analyses? Did a 2nd one...
We'll have to wait and see if the M1 helps... I did this as a baseline. This is the analysis of the Pennzoil and the OEM filter that the dealership put in for the first oil change.
Blackstone's comments mentioned the silicon.. said it's normal for a new engine, comes from sealers and sand-casted parts. My insolubles were low at 0.2%, so the OEM filter is no slouch.
I thought the Purolator filter did a better job at filtration? Or maybe it has a slightly higher flow rate... can't remember. Maybe I should go with the slightly better flow rate, since I do race the thing at autocrosses from time to time.
The autocrossing is why I decided to go Synthetic, which I figure is costing me twices as much overall as dino. (Oil costs 4x per quart, but change half as often. Filters cost twice as much, and I plan to swap the filter out every 3750 and top off the oil.)

Never done oil analysis on my car, used to do it every time on my airplane (till' I crashed after an engine failure), It's a must in that field.
Do you guys have a company you send it to. PLease relinquish some info!
