Valve noise

I searched for 'clicking valves' but all I get is rear end clicking noise...so dont tell me to search!!

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has valve click noise at idle.....every vehicle I have ever owned did but I just wanted to check to see if this is common on the VQ. Also, the valves are noiser from the driver side than on the passenger side, mostly only notice this if I get out the car and listen by front fender or if I am sitting beside a wall at idle....

I think its common but im going to dealer for other stuff and if this isn't ill mention this too!

I'm pretty certain you're hearing the injectors. VQ injectors have always been noisy. Take a long screwdriver and place the metal end against the top of the injector and place your ear on the handle. You should hear a loud and rapid tapping that matches the sound you're hearing outside of the car when the hood is closed. I've never heard of these cars having valve problems unless you've misshifted.

Check your oil. Maybe caused by lack of oil in the engine.

Your right daveb!!

I just assumed was valve train making the noise (im used to push rod motors which ofcourse have noisy lifters)

Anyway, yeh, i figured it was common just assumed wrong culprit
