Re: people with TS ECU

I have the same thing as well. I was getting around 22-23 mpg before the TS ECU and now im at 18-19mpg. i hardly floor the car anymore cause i know i'll get around 16mpg or so. But on the other hand, i know that i'd have to sacrifice something for performance...and that would be gas milage.

I would love to get that Crawford plenum but i gotta clear up some finances first. I might as well get all the mods i want before i have the TS ECU reprogrammed.

Jerome,

i will take your grill off your hand for a 1 smack or just a thank you. hehehhee

On a serious note, while you were at TS. Did you happen to ask them if more mods were add to your car, it is crucial that you flash the ECU again?

Re: people with TS ECU

Re: people with TS ECU

My mileage has stayed about the same, between 17 and 20 mpg, and I always have it floored. None of that granny driving 25mpg stuff for me. :^ )

That was me. And I did notice slightly better mileage, and I floor the thing all the time! My most recent measure pure highway driving, average speed about 90mph, ~22 mpg. That is a veyr high speed keep in mind, the rpm was always at round 3500.

Re: people with TS ECU

Hey Steven,
Lots of mods were already compatible with the TS ECU. It's just that to get it tuned properly, they would need to re-download the TS settings to the ECU. I know that major components like plenum modifications, cams, FI, etc...will need the tuning or else it wont run right. But for headers, intake, exhaust....the re-programming is not that necessary since the TS ECU will adapt the changes made and not detune itself. But it wont hurt to do so. I heard that they have the settings for the exhaust and intake now. But each time you go there, they charge for re-programming. They quoted me $125 each time i wanted to get it re-programmed...i think.

Re: people with TS ECU

i actually did the dyno runs for the 6MT sedan for TS, and i got no gains. my A/F is perfect, but no gains. at least so minimal that you cant really see much from a chart. there is something weird with it that i cant seem to figure out, but the theory is that with an exhaust, the ECU will give stellar gains.

Re: people with TS ECU

Lead_foot,

exactly, love taken the windows down just to hear her purredd!!!! The exhausts even sound better after i added the nismo intake. I don't know if just a fluke or what. After the nismo intake, i did gain about 1 to 1.5 mpg. Before i was getting 17 mpg. Now i am getting about 19 or more.

Gurgenpb and Jerome,

so TS ECU is worth it? keep in mind i have a 6mt coupe.

Re: people with TS ECU

I think it is definitely worth it for serious modder. Aside from the performance gains, you get an ECU that no longer regresses when you add mods to your car, does not close the throttle plate before shifting (5ATs), and of course a perfect mixture setting all the way to teh new redline of 7100rpm.

Theperfomance gains will become apperant when you start adding mods. I am a strong advocate of addingthe plenum and getting the ecu written for it. AS you all knwo, that's what is making my car so darn fast!!!

GO for it.
Your choice

Re: people with TS ECU

Steven,

I agree with Gurgen. But keep in mind that both our cars are 5AT. 5AT's apparently have a better response to the ECU mod. I think it's worth it if you are going to get more than just an intake and exhaust. Knowing you, with all your fancy gadgets in the car, LCD TV and all, you should have money for the performance stuff as well. But dont take my grill with the emblem. It was designed spcifically for my car and not yours .
