Unichip question

Quick question. I want to get the Unichip for my 03 sedan but I wanted to know if you can tune the car through it? Or do I have to get a separate hook up to tune it?

Thx

The unichip is like a "piggy-back" system. It allows fine tuning of your fuel and timing to get more out of your engine. There is a separate program to tune it which should only be done by a qualified tuner.

Some people have seen some good gains from it.

Well I know my car is running rich. I don't mind tunning it if it will help. I am planning to get it tuned at a shop but I wanted to know will I have to give the shop anything else other than the car with the Unichip installed?

No, that's all you need. Just make sure they have experience with the Unichip first.

How is that? I gained a lot of power through a Unichip tune.

i know for a fact that vodka saw atleast 15whp from a unichip tune. It's definitely not recommended to get until you have finished all of your bolt on mods.

You're right, $2000 for headers, exhaust, and an intake installed for 15-20hp is way better.

IMO boost is the only way to go. But back on the subject, you should get more than 7-8 plus you get the most from your other mods and will gain power through the entire band. The peak gains may not be over ~20hp but the that is not just at peak.

My gains were 29RWHP and 31TWTQ in conjunction with all the bolt-ons.

Ask ANY local G35, and they'll tell you that my car did not drive like a regular G35. It pulled...HARD! Never had a problem with modded NA 5AT or 6MT G35 sedans/coupes or 350z's...

he had allllll the bolt on's, that's why i said you dont do a unichip unless you have finished all the bolt on mods you wish to do without going FI.

Are you thinking clearly? Nobody suggested to get a Unichip on a stock motor, that would be stupid! When you add mods, especially lots of them (i.e. headers, cats, plenum spacer, intake, full exhaust, etc) your ECU won't adapt. It won't have that same A/F ratio that was developed based on the flow of the stock system. The point of tuning AFTER mods are installed is to maximize the benefit of those mods...

Is it worth it for me to get it if I just have the Ztube, spacer, and middy and K&n. I'm not "planning" do do anymore bolt-ons for a while. I can get the chip for 350 and get it tuned for another 350? Does anyone know of a good local NJ shop the tunes the Unichip if i get it? I was goingto go to Ripp mods in SI
