SPACER for 06 5at

this topic has probably been discussed to death, and im pretty sure you guys want me to use the search tool.

but i have used it. and just want to make sure cause some of the other threads are saying this and some are saying that.

so if you guys will be kind enough to help me out and shine some light for me and drop your .02 cents for me. it be more than appreciated =]

what kind of spacer do i need? 5/16 or 1/2?
i heard with the 1/2 you can not use your engine cover correct? if so i want to use my engine cover. so i should go with 5/16 correct.

what company should i buy from?
i hear alot of you fellows are using the Motordyne?

where will i see the most gain? lower rpm or higher?
more trq or hp? read alot that with he 5/16 its mid range power gain?

whats this ISO THERMAL and COPER stuff?
something about temperature? well i live in Dallas TX, its hot up here in the summer (80 - 90 degrees) but in the winter it could get pretty nippy. say bout 35 degrees.

oh yeah im a 5AT so if you guys with the 5at's have spacers could share a lil what you have and drop your 2cents i would greatly appreciate it.

i assure you that all of these questions have been answered quite clearly in the past.

both the 1/2" and 5/16" spacers will be beneficial to you. however, if you want to retain the your stock engine cover, you will need to purchase the 5/16" spacer.

motordyne is the only company that offers the 1/2" and 5/16" spacers. the skunk2 brand is 5/8" and is too big, imo.

with the 5/16" spacer, you will likely see mid range power. the 1/2" spacer will mostly yield gains up top.

you only need the copper iso thermal upgrade if it snows. other than that, just stick with the regular iso thermal upgrade.

i, too, have an 06 5at. i chose the 5/16" spacer over the 1/2" spacer as i mostly use the midrange power anyway. the difference will not be night/day to most, but it is noticeable nonetheless. some people are more sensitive to mods . others feel the placebo affect. the rest may get the gains, but may not feel them. as a result, you will likely get mixed reviews. however, most people, including myself, will still endorse this product.

i was hoping that you would chime in AHERO. Thanks alot buddy! do you have any idea where i could get one of these bad boys?

and why couldnt i just buy a basic one instead of a iso? what if it does snow just a lil over here? just sometimes. but it would only last a day.

MotorDyne....661-993-5111

When you go onto MotorDynes web site they'll show you where to purchase
the spacer you want.....www.motordyneengineering.com. If you call and talk
to Tony he'll be able to direct you to what's best for your REVUP '06 motor.
These are very nice people and always willing to help a G pilot!

When in doubt, it may be best to go straight to the source that engineered and built the products. The experts should know more about the products that they build than the rest of us.

don't confuse the man. he's got a non-revup engine.

i repeat, for clarification, you have a non-revup engine. all 5at's, not matter what year, are non-revups.

and yes, if you told tony that you have an 06 5at, he would know that you have a non-revup.

FYI, you can fit the OEM cover with 1/2" spacer... it's best to invert the grommets... however 5/16" is a fine choice and you get better clearance... just wanted OP to know in case you wanted the top end hp.

Also, the Iso Therm (particularly the manual valve) is a minor additional charge (almost an insignificant amount) and definitely will lower you plenum temps - so you might want to consider it... but you can purchase the spacer alone (to answer that part of your question).

I have absolutely no clearance issues with my 1/2" MD spacer and engine cover. I love the mid range to high-end power and punching it on an on-ramp feels so nice.

All great stuff and accurate except one point. In terms of the iso thermal snow has nothing to do with your decision. If your temperature during parts of the year will be below 50 degrees F you should consider the copper iso thermal.

Algy,

I have a brand new/still in box 5/16" spacer if you decide that's the one you want. I totalled my car before the box came in from Motordyne. I paid $260 new a month ago. Will sell for $220 plus shipping. Let me know.
