grounding kit help...

i just got my stillen hyper grounding kit installed and i dont feel a difference at all. Not even a noticable amount of smoothness with the shifting. Has anyone installed the Stillen 7 Wire kit?

Re: grounding kit help...

Make sure all the connections are made properly, I had mine installed at a local shop and they had it wired all a$$ backwards. I just took the whole thing off and re-wired it today, here is a map of the correct connection points. (disclaimer, this is not my engine but a great map for the grounding kit)

Yes, that's a the GroundingGear™ install pic. It's "Copyrighted" © 2003 GroundingGear Ltd., so please just don't use it for commercial purposes, nor reproduce without authorization, Thanks. Feel free to link to it as posted on the thread though.

Re: grounding kit help...

The 7th wire connects directly to the transmission housing. Z-Xtreme is also now doing this on the 350Zs with good results.

Re: grounding kit help...

That 8th wire isn't mine. Not sure what it's supposed to do. I usually only do extra wires for GroundingGear™ if it theoretically can benefit the performance. I know that at least one of our members has added about 11 wires I believe, but I'm not convinced that it's worthwhile to get carried away. There is an optimal number of wires for every car, usually 5 to 7, beyond which there are diminishing returns. I know a few locals that have used generic H-G kits on their Hondas, etc. and many of the grounding points they chose for their wires were questionable at best, sometimes being grounded to points with no continuity at all! Of course, if it's done purely to look 'cool' under the hood rather than for performance enhancement, they've served their purpose. This is the reason that the kits should be engineered to the application and why I don't do GroundingGear™ as a generic kit, and also the reason that GroundingGear™ is offered as a dealer installed option here as a safe and EFFECTIVE mod.
Many ppl think that since it's only wires, anyone can do it, which is the reason that there are so many building kits in their basements and selling on E-Bay. If they do a reasonable job and select good grounding points (usually pirated from other ppl's efforts), they can work.

OK, the 8th wire you are referring to is my creation. It is
different from Gordon's #8. The wire you refer to connects
a factory ground on the fender in the brake booster area to
the end of Gordon's wire connected to the drivers side strut
tower. I was poking around looking for more factory grounds
and found 3 that Gordon did not connect to. 1 next to the
windshield washer tank, 1 next to the battery under the battery
cover and the third in the break booster area on the fender.

Re: grounding kit help...

Whoops, sorry Cato. 12 Wire Hyper-Grounded G35, not 11. Officially makes the Cato-GroundingGear setup the most grounded G35 on the planet that I've heard of!

Now, if I could just figure out what they're supposed to do, I'd try them myself!
