I just wanted to know if anyone has done this. I want to get my injectors serviced. Meaning I want to take them off the car and send them out for cleaning and service. I found a few places online that do it. Just wanted to know if it's worth $70 or some other places $17 per injector. I will do the labor myself. I just feel like the car does not run the way it used to and with 80K on it I think the injectors might have something to do with that. Any comments suggestions?

I would try a can of BG 44K first before going through all that trouble. You can search on eBay for it. A good price is around $13-15 per can, shipped. Based on the price, you know it's not your ordinary fuel injector cleaner. This stuff is super potent. I was skeptical when I first started using it until I felt what a difference it made in an old chrysler I had.

Just add it to your tank on the next fillup. I normally put in 1 can, and then fill up 3/4 full (so it's an even higher concentration).

Using BG 44K, I noticed huge improvements in power and fuel economy in old cars after one treatment. Ideally, you want to use it once every 15K miles or so.

 

I did use Seafoam on the car. I sucked it in throught the PCV valve instead of just putting it in the gas tank. After that I did notice a better pickup and gas milege went up a little but now its back to the same after only 4k. I will maybe give it a try. Thanks.

 

Due to the current low quality and changes in US gasoline, as refinery after refinery is pushed to the limit, I use BG44k every 90 days - a tank prior to oil change.

However the newer returnless fuel systems are less likely to need cleaning as frequently as older design.

Each car will be different depending on local fuel and driving style mix.

 

The effects of BG44K definitely last longer than that.

You do realize that using seafoam this way won't clean the injectors? At least not the inside of them.

In order to clean the injectors using Seafoam, you have to put into the gas. That's the only way to get the seafoam though the injectors. At least w/o taking them off of course.

 

I put half the can in the tank and half throught the PCV valve. THx

 

What about Chevron techron fuel systems cleaner? Anyone try that? I used a can of that about 10k miles and my injectors "seem" to be fine.

 

I used to use that regularly until I found out about BG 44K. Doesn't seem like the techron fuel system cleaner did much because i felt a big difference in my old car after putting the BG 44K in.

The investigative news team of WRGB CBS 6 Television in Albany, New York, has been debunking outrageous fuel claims on their eleven o’clock news for the last month.

Recently, they reported that they’ve “finally found something that worked!” They claim the BG Induction System Cleanup Service featuring BG 44K® delivered on its promise to improve gas mileage.

 

I use a can of BG 44K once a year, followed up with a bottle of Red Line Cleaner every 2,500 miles.

 

Be very careful about using a vaporized spray induction flush with a drive by wire TB as the syncronized motor, tps sensor can be manually driven out of alignment..................forcing TB plate open by hand is a serious no no!

We have seen numerous TB assembles needing replacement because of mechanics and owners not understanding the changes since 2002.

THis can be a $1000 bad experience.............why we just BG44k add to tank.

Years ago the TB need frequent cleaning and almost anyone could do it without getting into trouble................... not so today!

Same with MAF.....................careful!

 

i used rge BG 44k from Ebay and my MPH went up to 20 from 18.
Not too bad since gas is over 3.25

 

BG44k never promises any mpg improvement as usually impossible for all injectors to be clogged 11%.

Plus the ecu can trim each bank to compensate somewhat, but this would be a 3 injector average to try to get O2 up to normal.


If I could say anything it would be about idle smoothness and how BG44k almost always seems to help this function especially loaded with AC on.

The Consult can conduct a power balance test to determine the ranking of cylinders in contributing to an idle speed.......ie. What happens when each one is sequentially shut down ~~ 60-80 rpm drop.

Also based on 11 ounce volume it appear to contain 3x-8x the detergents of other injector cleaners so if you are frugal you can use 1/3-1/2 can and save the rest .......very very flammable.
