Cats Or Test Pipes???

Hello everyone i have recently bought some resonated test pipes and everyone is saying that i should go with HI-flo cat instead of test pipes...They say that the test pipes will have alot of rasp...is this correct??? I have topspeed headers and HKS on the car?? i am wanting to change out the stock cats to the test pipes i just bought.

Should i go ahead and do it or sell them and get hi-flo cats?? I dont want rasp but can deal with some little rasp.....

Please give me your input....Thanks everyone.

get your inspection done first before you put the test pipes on. resonated test pipes should cut down on your rasp.

i don't think it's goin to be a big difference bewteen resonated test pipes and hfc's. but i haven't heard either so...

actually, there is a difference between resonated test pipes and high flow cats.

my setup: hks cat-back, fast intentions 300 cell metallic cats, stock headers - no rasp at all.

the amount of rasp is also going to depend on the quality of your resonators in the test pipes. fast intentions currently offers the largest/most efficient resonators that i know of. sam has fast intentions resonated test pipes and hks - it's loud as hell, but there is no rasp.

but if you have headers...then that may be another story and rasp may be something you'll have to live with.

j/k, the less noise restriction you have in the exhaust the more rasp you will get. What brand res. TP do you have?

see will headers make a huge difference in rasp?? I Am curious because the test pipes i put on have really bad rasp now...then again i bought the really cheap test pipes.

I have since then ordered fast intentions HFC 300 cell. I will be installing them thursday. Guess we will find out how different the rasp is from the test pipes to HFC. Hopefully its a big difference.

Performance wise there only about a 1-2 hp difference between hfc and test pipes...

i know that but as far as rasp...is there any when i switch up to HFC with headers?? I know that my test pipes (cheap ones) make my car sound like a 4 cylinder with open headers.

TP= Rasp and smell.
HFC = No Rasp and no Smell.

I have Megan Headers, Pro 1 test Pipes and Injen Ses TD.
the smell was so bad i took it out and put the stock Cats back on.
I missed the power the TP gave me.

I agree with you...the smell of the TP is bad. I have the Topspeed headers, soon to be FI HFC 300 cell, and then HKS. Hopefully the rasp and sound will be a whole lot better!

Headers will make ur car a little bit louder...Headers are thinner than exhaust manifolds, and there is none to barely any back flow to disrupt your charges... A free flowing exhaust not only makes ur car perform better but it will make it louder aswell.... But i don't know if u get a rasp cuz i dont have headers yet...
