N/A gauges

ok guys I'm looking to get some gauges for the car and want to get some Defi gauges.

I was thinking, coolant temp, volt, oil pressure.

Do I need to look into a A/f too?

I don't have anything but breather mods on the car so i wasn't sure if the a/f would be a waste or not.

Let me know what you think!

A/F is a waste if you aren't FI.

yes and no - air fuel is just as important on a NA car as it is on a FI car. If a NA car has breathing mods and not the correct AF then the mods are worthless. Its not something that you would have to "watch" under throttle unless you were running extremely lean, but is always something that you should look at once in a while.

is this for looks? you don't really need gauges on a NA car, but I guess it doesn't hurt. you don't really need an A/F gauge. you should dyno and see where your A/F is at. with your mods, you definitely don't need it. headers will lean out the car a good amount.. I see that you don't have testpipes either.

I do not see why people say "you don't need guages on a NA car". This is just so wrong. You don't need FI guages on a NA car, but you should really know what is going on when the car is operating. The g35 doesn't even have a oil temp guage or even a volt meter. What kind of sports car doesn't come with these guages? My truck even has these and then some. IMO nissan did a **** poor job of letting the driver know what is going on. I would love to hook up a few guages to my car, but i don't want a huge guage pillar just for a couple basic guages and i don't want the look of custom mounted guages...i wish we had a set up simular to the 350z.

EDIT: i do agree that he doesn't need a AFR guage with the mods he has, but the "basic" guages should be there.

I'd go for A/F, EGT, water temp, and oil pressure...

I'd narrow it down to three, but I don't know which one I'd give up...

G35 and Z are build like a champ and are relatively new cars. gauges are more of a necessity for older cars such as a build 240sx or sumthing. Like I said, it wouldn't hurt to have gauges, but you're not bound for any catastrophic failure with minor boltons. Don't make it sound like it's an absolute necessity.

with that said, if I had a choice, I'd go with water temp, oil temp, on an NA G.
