Difference between Ceramic and Stainless Headers?
How is it going guys? I was just wondering what the difference is between the ceramic and stainless headers? Obviously the appearance is different, but is there a performance difference? Which one would be wise to go with? I plan on having the jethot coated if that matters.
Alos, when i have the jethot coated...what temperature coating should i have applied? How hot do the headers get? Would 1300 degrees be enough or should i go higher?

Hi, I had my exhaust manifolds coated(not by Jet hot), along with the turbo housings. I noticed a difference in heat by the gauge itself dropping about a notch. I know that there are numerous companies out there to have this done. As far as actual temp to apply or how hot they get I have no idea, but the next time I do send something to get coated I going to go to Swain Tech. Good luck!

Stainless steel is just a material and nothing else. But it does resist corrosion
Peformance coatings can also be tailored to do this. But they can also be designed to reduce temp radiation and help keep exhaust velocity higher inside the pipes (helping performance just a tad). Coatings can also be applied for appearance considerations also.

There would be a benefit of coating ss headers w/ a thermal barrier coating.
ceramic headers? Headers aren't made out of ceramic. If they are already ceramic coated then you need to read the maker's lit about their reasoning behind the ceramic coating. Sounds like a type of therma barrier also.

If stillen's headers are mild steel vs SS, then the ceramic is there for corrosion resistance. But it might also feature a thermal barrior. But it depends on what type of ceramic coating.

the ceramic headers apart from the SS headers? How come they are cheaper? I
plan on having the headers jethot coated to help keep heat out of the engine
bay, but can you jet hot ceramic headers? If you can is it going to benefit
me at all to purchase the SS headers of the ceramic if i plan on having them
jethot coated anyways?

As for the price difference, it is determined by market value.
Our ceramic headers are made from mild steel where as the stainless is made
from stainless steel.
If you purchase our ceramic headers, you will not need to get them Jet Hot
coated. However, if you decide to get them Jet Hot coated, the ceramic
coating must be stripped first.
