dude VQ35de, VQ35de(Rev up) and VQ35HR are the only motors used in the 350z, the first two are used in the first gen G's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_VQ_engine#VQ35DE

The HR variant is the motor people want to buy the Y pipes from. Only 07/08 350z's had the VQ35HR motor. As well as the 2nd gen G35 sedans. but the Y pipe is not the same.

thats ok, you can still use them, but the normal M1 does not do well in the VQ's other oils out perform it. and as you found out GC is really good and not that expensive.

Yeah I just read through a couple more pages. Probably won't be using M1. I've got 5 quarts of regular Castrol Synth 5w30 sitting somewhere to use if my dad won't pay for the GC cause the local autozone sells GC for around $8.50 a quart.. that's a bit much compared to like $4.99 a quart for the mobile one Don't really want to use my own money if they'll be willing to pay for it lol

lol, if you get m1 for free, its a hard bargon. But you can wait for Autozone to have Castrol on special then its only 30 bucks with a good filter, (K&N,M1,Wix,Bosch)

Thats what I do as well, just wait for specials and make sure they are doing it with a good filter. I use Syntec 5W30 for all of my oil changes. I tried Edge but meh dont need it for 3750 mile OCIs and it made my motor have a loud engine tick. Ill try GC some time.

Yeah that's where I got my 5 quarts of castrol syntec 5W30 last time haha. It's a pretty legit deal. I saw Edge too and was tempted to buy it cause it was only like.. what was it? like $5-$7 more? But sounds like you didn't really have a good time with it lol. 3750 mile OCIs reallly? isn't that a bit short?

It depends entirely on the dealership. They can use whatever they feel like using as long as it is 5W30. Company policy

So you might be getting just regular conventional oil whenever you go there for oil changes.

If you get a free oil change or pay around 50 bucks its Conventional. What brand differs from dealer to dealer.

Ohhh.. yeah that makes sense then lol.

The dealerships might also offer to use synthetic oil on your car, but if they do that.. they charge around $80-$100 for it. Looked at my service records for my car from the last person that had it and they almost always went to the dealership to get her oil changes done. (some old lady) They either used Mobile1syn or they used mobile1syn highmileage 10W30. She took the car in, in weird intervals.. every 5k-8k miles. Kind of random. A few times she might of used conventional cause it doesn't say.. hmmm

Hope that all that didn't have too much of a negative effect on my car :|.. hmm

How many miles and what year? My car was driven mostly highway but had oil changed at near 3750. 5-8k is not too bad if she was using M1 its not **** but it should of held up, if its some old lady you can guess she ***** footed it around.
