So that's 1qt per 1320 miles.

Would they consider replacing my engine if they did their own OC test and observed a similiar result?
They sure will, if their test results shows a failure on their engine. When you bring it in to start the OC test, they'll top it off, make sure you check it also after you've stopped the car after a couple of hours. Take measurement every 1000K miles before you bring it in. After 3-4 reads, they'd probably tell you to call Consumer Affairs, to get an escalation on their request for a new engine, then do so. Oh yeah, some dealers, like mine, has a Service Rep, who calls after service rendered, just to get a review, make sure you tell him the problem, too. That is so he can inform the dealer manager or owner. With everyone high up knowing my problem, I didn't even have any reason to rant and rave and cuss, esp. with the only dealership here, who has a very bad rap about their service. everything went so smoothly. Just picked up my car last Thursday with a new engine installed. Now, I'll just have to break it in for the first 1200 miles, then the real test begins. One more thing, the new engine part no. 10102-AC7M9, which are built and shipped from Japan. This is what you want. The other engine, which you wouldn't want, is 10102-AC7M1, which is a revised ring, factory block from Tennessee plant.

Just did my first oil consumption test. Everything went well and my car only burned a quarter of a quart in 1k miles. We believe the oil was the problem. My car has 8100 miles on it and after my first oil change at 3750 miles, I had them replace the regular dino oil with synthetic. When I took it back at 7100 miles for my 2nd oil change, it was determined that the car lost 3 qts of oil (i had been monitoring my oil because of the info i've read in the forums and acually added 2 qts of my own prior to the second oil change). So anyway, for the oil consumption test they used the dino oil again and everything looks normal. I guess our engine has a tendency to burn the synetic, due to the smaller molecules, at a higher rate. The dealer also mentioned that synthetic isn't recommend for our engines.

My car consumed more oil, as the miles added up. Originally, I tested for OC at some 2,000 miles because of a engine valve train noise. Infiniti deemed that my engine was not consuming engine oil by their standards. Well, some 30,000 miles later, I requested for another series of engine oil consumption test. Per the latest tests, my engine was consuming 1-1/4 quarts of oil per 1,000 miles. Needless to say, I received a new hand built engine from Japan, last month.

Good luck to the rest of you, whom are wondering if your cars are consuming engine oil. Continually monitor your engine oil and request an Engine Oil Consumption Test, if you have any suspicions.
