Question Torque Wrench

Where can I find a reasonably priced torque wrench that covers

40 in/lbs

in Atl. GA? I checked local autoparts store and they only had torque wrechs that went down to 120 in/lbs. I have a torque wrench that does FT/lb's but it only goes to 30 ft/lb which is 360 in/lb. ANy definite places? and how much?

Unless you are a professional mechanic and expect frequent use, that should be a good one!
Keep it clean, and don't drop it. Should last a long, long time.

Most of those Sears ones are crap. Read the reviews, even the ones on the sears site!

I get Snap-on, Matco or other good brands off ebay.

Whatever you do get a nice one. I've been betrayed by the cheap ones from autozone.

Be sure to annually have the wrench calibrated.

^ bring it back to where you bought it?.. I'm sure there are tool shops that'll do it for you but I had my Snap-On one recalibrated by snap on for $40 =)

Doesnt matter if you're a tech or not.. ALWAYS buy a good torque wrench.. cheap ones = stripped bolts/snapped bolts/improper torque..

like I said in my first post here.. if you're looking for a cheap one buy the old school one with the needle.. its ALOT more accurate then a cheap torque wrench

+1 on sear's wrench being ****ty.. from my experience its a hit and miss.. I've bought a inch-lb torque (seeing how I dont use inch lb much at all) for $50 two years ago during a christmas sale.. the thing was CRAPP the adjuster was very hard to move and wouldnt return to 0 anymore after 1 use ._. I exhcanged it.. this one broke after two weeks -__-.. finally the third one (exchanged again) is working great til now =)

technically, you should have it calibrated by an ASAL certified place upon purchase, and then early thereafter. this assures that you will meet the spec at all times. it's only about $25 (depending on the size) to get it calibrated. just think of it as a yearly maintenance item on your tools.
