If you had a heat shield to go along with it, it would be great. But without a heat shield of any kind it will lose 10-15 HP.

Yes. I've done a lot of exploratory testing on the dyno.

Air intake temperature Vs HP.

I tested inlet temperatures from 50'F to 120'F in 10' increments. Overall, it shifted HP by approximatly 15HP as air temp increased from 50' to 120'. Not just at the peak, but it lost a lot of area under the curve.

This is why your car feels so good and peppy on a cold day.

As measured on the Cipher, an unshielded intake can easily reach 150'F in the Summer. That's really hot!

An unshielded intake sitting naked in the engine compartment could potentially lose even more than the 120'F inlet temperature I tested on the dyno.

So how do people with the JWT Popcharger/Z-Tube fare in terms of heat soak/performance?

The pop charger comes with a heat shield.
