30,000 Mile Service from Nissan?
My 30,000 mile service is here, and needs to get done. I went to Infiniti to see how much it would be. It turns out that it's about $500-$600 to get it done, it seemed a little steep so I went to Nissan to ask how much they charged. It turns out they charge about half the price... $300.
I asked the service manager at Nissan what it is that gets changed/serviced. He pretty much showed me the list with oil, oil filter, in cabin filter, tranny fluid, etc.. I asked about the drive belts since it says "Replace engine drive belts", he said they don't do that, they just inspect them, and for the "Replace engine coolant/flush system" they just check to see if it's ok, and if fluids are needed all they do is "top it off".
Well I'm here thinking to myself if they are just "topping off fluids, and checking belts what the hell am i paying for?" what else is it that they skip out on and don't change, how would I know that they did change my tranny oil and replaced differential oil?? and didn't just leave it as is. It seems that all they are going to do is a very expensive oil change.
I'm not sure what to do at this point, any suggestions? thanks.

This is a good resource. I've compared the list to the older model service schedules and it looks identical.

can't speak for infiniti service since I've only had my car for a week. but in general on my previous car the major services, ie. 30k, 60k, etc, they include alot of optional services in the price. these are things like valve adjustment which may or not need to be done. they inspect them and if they need work it's no charge above what they quoted but if they don't need work they discount the difference.
