Re: Painted engine cover

i have a black sedan. i really like that blue paint though. think it would look odd painting the engine cover blue in a black sedan?

Re: Painted engine cover

What blue and white one is REALLY nice! What paint did you use.. did you sand it or prime it! How did you get such a clean job painting one color inside of the other? Did you have to remove the Infiniti Logo?

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: Painted engine cover

Thanks. I used plasti-kote car color from Pep boys. The white is color GM7193 & the blue is color 8149FM. I cleaned it off, masked the Infiniti logo & V6 3.5 lettering with masking tape & exacto knife. I primed the whole thing. Then I masked off the inside to paint the outside white. Then I masked the outside to paint the inside blue. This was actually kind of a PITA because when I pulled off the masking from one side, I would end up peeling just a little paint off no matter how careful I was. So I had to repeat the procedure a couple of times. I actually color sanded a little bit but decided I was being a little too **** retentive. Then I clear coated the whole thing. The picture looks a lot cleaner than it really is, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Re: Painted engine cover

coolie,
I think you should paint it the color of your mods..like blue wires..calls for blue..red filter..calls for red..get the idea...

I was thinkin about just painting the lettering to match my filter..wa ever color it may be..
