AirBag light on and flashing...

Hey all...

I recently purchased an '06 G35 Coupe 6MT in Ivory Pearl. It was involved in an accident and the steering wheel/drive side seat bag went off. They were both replaced with new ones and I was assuming there wouldn't be much else to it as far as the AirBag system goes.

The problem I'm having now is that there are NO CODES in the system, but the airbag light is still on. I've taken it to a dealership and they told me that they want me to replace the whole engine wiring harness ($1200 parts, $1500+ labour) which in my opinion seems a little farfetched.

I've tried the AirBag reset procedure to no avail. Anyone got any ideas?

Before everyone goes on about lecturing me on buying a salvage, please don't bother. I'm fully aware of the cons of buying salvage vehicles and am not concerned about them. I obviously would like all the AirBags to be working 100%.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Are your sure they replaced everything? Some cars require new Bags, module, clock spring even seat belts. If you dont do everything you cannot clear the code. Look along the harness and see if you see anything that jumps out at you. Did you get any paper work with the car. In RI you need recipts or junkyard parts with VIN number the car came from.

I'm having the same problem. After replacing the driver seat and curtain airbags, I have been confused as to what I'm supposed to do next in order to remove the airbag light. I called the dealer and they said I would have to take it in to have the airbag system reset, which should be $250. I called a g35 owner and he recomended a place that can have the system working properly again. So I'm in the process of getting that done.

If you have fixed the problem, got any advice for me?

If no wires were cut I don't know why the harness would need replaced. The computer or one of the sensors may need replaced.

you probably need to replace the computer for the airbag system, The fsm mentions that when ever the airbags go off the module needs to be replaced. As far as I can tell you would need to make sure the seatbelts were also replaced because they go off along with the airbags. Good luck, try getting the codes from the system.

+1, alot of cars/manufacturers are like this these days. Once anything in the SRS system is deployed the main control module needs to be replaced.

Remove air bag light

So I had to replace my driver side seat and curtain air bags. Many people would tell me that the next step was to have the dealer hook up the computer to reset the air bag system. I found out that that wasn't true. All I had to do was replace the SRS air bag module that's located under the center console and the quarter pannel air bag sensor. After they were installed, the light just came off. I spent $280 on all four items which I purchased on ebay and craigslist.

The module you can get on ebay under $90. The dealer quoted my at $900. I saved a few grand by not taking it to the dealer.

Sorry for the lack of information on the previous post. The dealer quoted me on all four parts (curtain & seat airbags, srs module, sensor) at about $2,500. I spent $280 and installed everything myself.
