Yesterday i installed my subs and amp. I drove the car a few times with no problems. Today i turned the car on and the car started but quickly shut down when i left it idle before backing out. It will run but if i leave the car idling it will die, so i have to have my foot on the gas. The car seems to be idling at really low RPM's. any ideas? The only thing i can come up with is that the battery is too weak... but then why would it start?

 

im having the same problem. just installed a new headunit friday night and has been happening since. doesnt seem to happen when the car is cold though. this morning it started up fine and idled normal. then tried again later after driving around and it shut off right after starting up. very weird.

 

it sounds like we have the same sort of problem. So did you only install a head unit or did you install any sub woofers as well. I'm thinking that i will have to buy a capacitor. I wouldn't want to put too much strain on my alternator. I new battery would help as well i think.

Nope, just head unit. Car started up fine this morning, ill see how it goes the rest of the day. Hope it was just a temporary problem.
