Automatic shift kit

What all can we do to our auto tranny's, besides the valve body upgrade? I know it improves performance, but I was told by a friend that it can help the life of the tranny because when an auto shifts smoothly it is actually slipping which overtime can shorten the life of it and the shift kit gets rid of that. I thought that sounded kinda of bogus but I am not a transmission specialist so input would be great

ATF cooler, trq converter... believe it or not shorter (3.7) ring & pinion gears helped quicken my shifts (I can’t explain it, but a few others have)... I know that even with 3.3 gears it shifts quicker at WOT than when easing on the throttle... the shorter gears rev faster and higher quicker, so I don’t know if the ECU/TCU is making it shift faster because of that or not...

Anyway, ATF cooler,TC and VB - those are the upgrades specific to AT.

I am going to assume the AT is like the engine when it comes to mods, any change will most likely shorten the intended life of it, correct?
