Where is ECU and TCU located?
Where is ECU and TCU located? I have a 04 G35C 5AT. See pic. I'm assuming the ECU is the black box by my red hanging wire. From what I read, the TCU is suppose to be near the carpet against by the door, but the only thing there was a piece of foam. Did they recently combine the two units into one??

Wow! Yours looks so much different from my 2003 Sedan.
I just installed Gordgee's ECU/TCU wires. It looks like you
are doing the same. Neither appears to be where mine are.
Could Infiniti have moved the location for 2004? Or did
someone steal yours. LOL

Re: Where is ECU and TCU located?
I just got this fax from Infiniti. Says it applies to the 2004 Coupe and Sedan.

Hmmm. Hard to read. I'll blow up the Passenger Compartment.

Ventural,
You need to take your G to the delaer and have them explain
why your G35 appears to be missing the ECU and the TCU.
Maybe someone swiped them when you turned your back?
LOL

Re: Where is ECU and TCU located?
Hmm, would I even be able to use the car without a ECU and TCU? Has anyone ever tried unplugging them and driving around without one? I'm going to assume the black box is the ECU (where it should be). The only label on this box says Nissan R1 and with barcode under it. The TCU/TCM is definately not where its suppose to be. I have even taken out all the foam inside the body panel. Nothing.
I went to the dealer, couldn't talk to a service tech. I ended up talking to the service manager and was told they would call me back on Monday. When I started talking ECU, TCU, they quickly reacted by telling the usual 'voiding warranty' lines rather than answering my questions. Guess I'll have to wait.
If anyone else has a newer 2004 Coupe 5AT and has two minutes to open a side panel, please let me know if your TCU is there. No tools are required to get to that spot.

Re: Where is ECU and TCU located?
I had 2004 G35 coupe too.
If you unscrew the bolt highlighted in circle, that bolt secures the TCU casing with the side panel, put your TCU wire in between the TCU casing and the side panel, put the same bolt back on.

Re: Where is ECU and TCU located?
Thanks Wavesonic. And for your Feedback re the optional wires.
You two are the first I've heard re the new brackets for the ECU/TCU. I guess not many have been behind the glovebox to take a look-see yet.

Re: Where is ECU and TCU located?
Thanks WaveSonic and everyone else for your help. I have completed my GroundingGear™ installation. I positioned the cables this way in order to properly close the glovebox without much effort. See pic.

Re: Where is ECU and TCU located?
The car is definitely quieter (idles at lower rpm). It does seem smoother accelerating. All my radio presets and trip odometers were reset when I disconnected the battery (doh!). I'm ready for some more wires, maybe we can get the radio to scan for stations quicker or the seats controls to move faster! haha Here is the final pic of the engine bay.
