Want to Put on new headers??? I'm a Rookie

Well guys I'm a crazy G35 fanatic just got into fixing up my ride and now I'm focusing on performance. Getting to the point, I was wondering if any of you Pros could help out a rookie and tell me or send some pics of your rides with new headers I kinda have an Idea but I don't want to mess anything up with the engine being so expensive and my income being so low Lmao!!!

Anything would help thanks a lot.

If ur a rookie, do not atempt headers

Dont waist the money as headers give very litlle gains for the money. You would be better off using high flow cats and a better exhaust.

it will take you about 5hrs to install them and you will spend like 400 to install them it won't give you much gains Go FI or don't do it at all.

Headers arent worth it. Save and go FI or if you are gonna stay NA go with exhaust with HFC's or test pipes, a spacer, and some stickers.

He said low income. FI is 5k minimum. Not low income.

exhaust and hi flow cats are your best bets.

Headers are definitely worth doing, but they have to be on non-REVUP motors to do much good. The variable exhaust motors/ECU are programmed/designed for the stock manifold flow/velocity characteristics. Headers just mess things up on those. If your car is a non-REVUP, it may be worth it along with a tune afterward. Just don't try installing yourself. Get ready for a $400 install bill.

ballistcus. tell me about your stillen gen 1 modified exhaust.

Why is that?

Basically, I just cut out the original 14" long resonators. Then welded in 2 18" Magnaflows back to back for 36" of muffler length per side. Toned down the exhaust a ton. Still a little bit of drone, but WAY better than it was. I couldn't stand it. Loved the power, hated the noise.

To my knowledge, all of the major VQ header designs out there were designed and dynoed on the gen 1/non-revup motors. Those engines did not have variable exhaust timing and so the header design applies to the flow/velocity intended.

When you bolt on a header designed around fixed exhaust timing onto an ECU controlled cam, now it is attempting to "correct" the torque curve, but it can't due to a completely different pulse/scavenging effect. I would bet some REVUPS might actually see a loss after adding headers.

Damn you guys know what you're talking about I did a little research myself got laughed at, guys at shop told me to start simple then work my way up to the top like all of you guys thanks for da advice.
