Test car needed for Vortech install

Get a Vortech installed and tuned by Vortech for a great price. I recently
had a Vortech installed on my '03 G35. Vortech did the install and gave me
an extremely good price because they needed a S/C installed on an '03 G35 as
part of the process of them obtaining the CARB certification. When I picked
it up (today) they asked if I knew anyone with a '04 G35 with a 4NSXV03.5G7C
emissions test group code so they could offer a similar deal. So if you do
have this code and are interested send an email to
wmedina@vortechsuperchargers.com . Also, Please do not contact me regarding
prices as I promised I would not share any info for the deal that I
received. It was an extremely good deal though=).

So how do you like the car now? Are you going to leave it tuned as Vortech left it?

Do you have the 03.5 AT Sedan? If yes, does it mean that the Vortech kit is now officially released for the 03.5 AT Sedan? Is your kit CARB legal?

Re: Test car needed for Vortech install

Zimbo,
I actually sent them some info regarding how I wanted it tuned. A/F is a little rich but i'm ok with that. The timing is the same as yours. I will leave it as is for a bit untill I get the software so that I can read the settings.

As far as driving goes its just sick. My buddy who owns an auto took me up there so we played a bit on the way back. There was a HUGE difference in acceleration between the 2. I'm pretty sure he will pick one up now too.

Kegels,
Sorry I have a 03.5 coupe. Not sure if it is officially released now for the 03.5 but I know that this was one of the main reasons they needed my car. I believe the Vortech guy said the 03's running the 04 S/C where not under warranty. They needed to install on an 03 for warranty purposes. Also, they do not have the CARB certification for this particular S/C. From what I understood it sounded like they needed to install these on various G35's as part of the CARB certification process. If you look on the website that lists all the legal CARB certified s/c's there are a lot of Vortechs so I am sure they know how to get this done.

Re: Test car needed for Vortech install

Sounds great! You've probably read all about this on the My350z forum by now but make sure if you download the settings then make a few changes and try to upload your changes that the Output settings are correctly configured so that the auxiliary pump comes on. For whatever reason, those settings need to be set by hand when you create a new customer file and they don't get set when you download the program from your car.

Other than that, it's really easy. If you have access to a dyno with A/F capability (and can pay to spend some time on it) it's easy to tune yourself.

As far as the difference compared to stock... I had my car in for service the other day and they gave me a sedan loaner. Man that thing seem SO DOG SLOW. There is no way in hell I could go back to N/A at this point.

Justice, a few questions.

Did you have to change out any engine internals?
How long did they have your car?
Does the install include everything they need to complete the job or do I need to buy other items?
How do I determine if I have the right model. I do have an 04 G35C.

2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!

1) No from what I understand if you stay around 400hp (debatable value) at the crank then you do not need to change the internals. Zimbo would probably know more about this number though. Also, I asked for a fairly conservative boost to increase my engine life.

2)They had my car for 2 weeks but the origional plan was for them to have it for 3 weeks. Personally, they could have had it for a month if they wanted. I didn't want to rush them.

3)Install is complete. They even tuned it. I'm sure you will want to buy gauges and maybe some software for further tuning but it is not required.

4) I dont know where to find the emissions code I havn't checked. I would first check the tag on the driver side door jam. *shrug*

Re: Test car needed for Vortech install

Hard for me to get up there on a Wednesday=(. Interestingly though, I happen to work for company that does flight testing up at Edwards so maybe one of these days if I am up there for support I can cruise on over to the track. Dont they have races in irwindale too? I could get there much easier. Or even Pomona for that matter.
