Has anyone tried this oil? It is supposely give you better gas milege?

Doesn't seem to offer that big of a benefit. According to their calculations it will save you roughly 150 gallons of gas after you drive 150,000 miles. So basically you could reach 150,000 miles using regular oil or use this for the life of the car and get up to 153,000 using that same amount of gas. That seems pretty minimal to me at least. (oh yeah and thats with gas at $3/gallon)

 

0W-30 is too thin to run in hot ambient temperatures. It may be OK for the winter months if you live up north, but I wouldn't use it where teperatures reach the 90 degree mark.

 

According to the oil rating, it's 30wt at operating 100deg C, so there's nothing wrong with using that. elkpok on bobistheoilguy.com was running german castrol 0w30 in his G and he had the lowest wear numbers out there.

 

If I remember that post correctly (it's been a while since I read it) he said the Castrol 0w30 acted more like a 10w40 too.

Too bad I can't find that stuff locally.

 

I think what you mean to say is it was still within range for a 0wt when cold and a 30wt when hot, but very close to being a 10wt and 30wt. Btw, factory fill on G35s, at least as far as I know, was 10w40.

 

I'm currently using Mobil 1 0w40 w/ no complaints.
