Utec install with pics

People keep asking me how I mounted my Utec and still got the under plastic on so I went back and took it out and took some pics for you guys.

First thing is first disconnect you battery then disassemble the whole glove box area, under tray passerger weather stripping, and pass kick panel.

Now that you have the area to work in get you utec out, and a deremel or cut off wheel. You will need to cut off all the tabs. There is also a stud coming out of the firewall which I cut off aswell just for extra clearance.

Here is what mine looks like

Pull out you stock ecu and bracket and you will need to cut the stock bracket into almost nothing. This will take some talent and go slow, you can always cut more.

Here is what my stock bracket ended up looking like

here is a picture of it mounted to get an orientation of it. I also reemed the hole to a slot to give me adjustment.

I then zipped tied my stock ecu and utec together using the existing holes in the stock ecu just tight enough so that it would not slide anywhere. I am sure there are other methods but this was quick and easy.

Now with some twisting and turning of the wires and wiggeling of the computers it should be oriented something like this

Now just bolt it up using the factory nut, I also cut a part of the bracket to hold the rear of the under tray up ( sorry forgot to take a pic)

But this is the final product / it is pushed down ever so slightly but no one can notice when sitting from either seat.

Thanks
Danny

Great writeup and pics!

I've been thinking about switching to this but I need to read up on tuning more.

Thanks again!
