The diagram posted near the beginning of the thread said 36 ft-lb. I know I put more torque on it than that. I couldn't remember the spec and I didn't have access to the diagram when I put it in yesterday. Michael Joneser, how big a sin do you think it is it to over-torque it? And you other dudes? Is that so bad?

 

Are you guys replacing the Oil Pressure relief valve as well?

FSM states to replace it any time the oil cooler is off.

I think i have to do mine, i noticed a small leak when i changed my oil, i think I will do it on my next oil change which will be soon..

 

Just changed mine out it was pretty straight forward. Going to replace my valve covers next to have that peace of mind (not leaking).

 

Just changed out my o-ring pretty simple. seemed to have sprung a leak in the general area so I hope this fixed that issue.

Regarding the relief valve....how is it removed? I tried using some needle nose pliers but couldn't grip it. Does anyone have any input on how to change this? I'll likely do this during the next oil change.

 

I never changed mine out. I tried a few methods, including threading a bolt inside the vale to pull it out but it didn't quite work for me. Left it in place and just replaced the O-ring. Was a pretty straightforward job although slightly diferent in the AWD cars. Been leak free ever since.

Still have the relief valve in my tool-box, although I don't think i'll make an attempt to replace it. While an easy job overall, I'm too lazy to take it apart again

 

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I am in the same frame of mind. I said F-it.. My 30 min oil change turned into an hour b/c I was dicking around trying to figure it out. LOL.
