VQ4.0

Is it possible and or has anyone fit the new VQ4.0 in a 350Z or G35? Would wieght be an issue for the front? I hear those engines can make 310hp.

Re: VQ4.0

Ya'll are mixing this up a bit.

The VK45 (4.5L V8) is used in the M45, Q45, and FX45. It generates 315-340hp in it's forms.

The VQ40 (new 4.0L V6 based on the same block as our VQ35DE engine) is going into the new '05 XTerra. It generats 250hp, 270lb-ft. It's probably not the best engine upgrade for our cars, as it's setup more for low-end torque than high-end power. It's a truck hauling motor. I don't think you'd get much of an advantage out of putting one of these into a G35.

Re: VQ4.0

There are a LOT of less expensive, less complicated ways to increase the horsepower of your car than an engine swap.

Re: VQ4.0

why not just get the Stroker Kit and turn it into a 4.3L? It will run you about the same as an engine swap...well, maybe a tad more, but then again, you could get the low compression version and turbo that sucker for 6-800 hp.

Re: VQ4.0

ehhh 4,0 seems more reasonable to me, and a safer bet.

Re: VQ4.0

yea, 4.0 is probably safer. any ideas how the fitment would be?

wait, but the thing is that the 4.0 is tuned for truck use with low hp and high torque. it might be nice to have the 4.0 for daily driving with all that torque, but for track use, id probably still stick with the 4.3 and run a higher compression to do a NA 400 hp monster.

btw, you like ducks or something? i have a friend who has her license plate say "Duckie," but she drives a civic though... we really dont have many ducks out in the suburbs of LA anyways.
