Recently I switched from Mobile 1 synthetic to the new Valvoline Power synthetic, both 5W 30. I did this mostly because Mobile 1 kept getting more and more expensive all the time and I can get the Valvoline for 20$ even for 5quarts at WalMart.


Shortly after moving to Mobil after about 10k on the car, I was religiously using 1 quart of oil every 2500 miles. I wasn't leaking, it didn't appear as though I was burning oil and my plugs looked perfect after 50k miles.

The very first time I used the Valvoline, I have put 4000 miles on the car and I am only down about 0.5 quarts of oil. Almost twice the miles and half the consumption of the Mobil 1.

Don't know per se what this means, but I'm glad to be using less oil and to be using it for less money!
