Personally, I use Royal Purple. 5-30 weight. I'm in Nor Cal.. so the weight you purchase might be diff depending on your temperature ranges and driving habits.
I went with Amsoil 5w-30 for my first oil change. IMHO it's superior to any other full synthetic oil on the market. Other synthetics I considered were Mobil 1, which I use in my SHO and Royal Purple.
My brother has considered putting the new Nissan Ester Oil, which is also synthetic and recommended in the new Maxima, in his Altima SE. It's expensive, but he works for Nissan.

I tend to favor Amsoil, I tried Royal Purple, but having purple oil bothered me, I found it difficult to read and judge its color throughout the oil use.
I just changed my oil last weekend and decided to use Valvoline SynPower 5w30. Compared to the Royal Purple I've noticed a smoother revving engine and already an increase in gas mileage with the same driving habits...all while being almost $2 cheaper. I may continue to use the Valvoline as I do not having anything earth shattering done to my engine and this should prove more than adequate for the life of the engine in its current state.
Interesting note though, I did some research on the Amsoil 5w30 and they basically have two options, their standard full synthetic listed as motor oil and they also have their 5w30-HD Diesel/Gas Synthetic motor oil which they actually recommend for turbo or higher performance applications. So if any of you out there love your regular Amsoil, maybe try the 5w30 heavy duty.

I've used both dyno and synthetic and the bottom line is that all of my cars have exceeded 300K miles (1 ancient Datsun pickup, three 240D Volvos, 1 VW fastback, A Yamaha XS1100 ) on dyno, which suggests that it's not necessarily the oil (unless you buy the really cheap oil such as WalMart's Tech oils). Currently use Mobil 1 on the G; however, the issue may not be which brand or type of oil, but how you drive the car, how often you change the oil, your attention to maintenance issues that affect oil's viscosity, corrosion inhibition, cleansing abilities and and other factors. Mobil 1 netted me an additional 1-2 mpg on my 2004 sedan (currently at 28mpg highway @ 70mph and 23 city).
Interestingly, the market is beginning to produce biodegradable oils - formed from the fats of cattle. The environmental benefits are clear, just not sure how effective it is as a motor oil, yet.

You list a 2006 vehicle in your post as the one you own. If you look in the owners manual, you may very well find it requires an up to date API SM rated motor oil to maintain the warranty. If you look on the oil bottle, you will find RP 5W-30 and 10W-30 is an older API SL rated motor oil for 2004 vehicles and before.
Only if you have a 2004 or earlier vehicle, using the old API SL rated motor oil, which is now out of date by 5 years. Up to date API SM rated motor oils might be a better choice.
