Mods: what to do next???

I feel like im running out of things to do to my car. Since modding this this has kept me out of a lot of trouble, I'm going to have to keep myself occupied once I run out of mods.

Or, you can help me find some new ones

So far, I have done:

Borla Exhaust
350Z tube + Pop Charger
Stillen Grounding Kit
Technos ECU
S.Tech Springs (Tein)
Still Adj. Sway Bars
clear corner lamps
aluminum pedals
tint
19" SF Challenge + Toyo T1S
XM radio
12" sub, MB Quart in doors and rear deck

I was thinking about doing some more light work, but I dont want to lose my fog lamp performance. I have heard that brighter bulbs actually dont work as well in the fog. It doesn't happen often, but from time to time I get stuck in nasty fog between LA and San Fran.

I was also thinking about some sort of spoiler. I was wondering if it was possible to get a stock spoiler and use the same holes to swap out for a big drift wing. I don't want to drive around with it on there all the time, but I don't know how swapable these things are.

Things im not going to do:

* turbo
* supercharger

I like the whole NA thing, it's why I bought this car.

So what else should I do? Body Kit? side blinkers? PIAA lights?

Crawford Plenum, RT Cats combined with your Z-Tube and JWT P/C will yield you another 17 rwhp and about 12 ft-lb of torque. You'll definitely feel that. Not too sure about the headers just yet...

You got plenty of advice. Did you feel the Technos ECU was worth it? Thanks....Rod

Re: Mods: what to do next???

yeah, I was thinking about cats today. The guy at Nissan said I could expect 10-15 hp from that alone.

What are the performance gains from a plenum? How much work is involved? Is it a do-it-yourself job?

I also think I want to upgrade the brakes as soon as possible. At least use NISMA pads as the stock infiniti (non-brembo) pads SUX

"The guy at Nissan said I could expect 10-15 hp from that alone."

That is a bit of a stretch. With the Plenum, RT's and intake I got 17rwhp. The Plenum was the best bang for the buck, then again it was the last mod that tied everything together.

I had the RT cats on with the intake and only noticed a change in sound and throttle response. The revs seemed to come on a little faster. The real change came from the Plenum.

Did I mention how good the Crawford Plenum is???

Re: Mods: what to do next???

Crawford is making similar header claims AT PEAK! At redline he's claiming upper teens at redline and the more mods done, the more pronounced the header advantages are. He cited a blown Z that picked up about 30 HP (at peak mind you, not redline) after the headers were installed.

Re: Mods: what to do next???

Assuming this blown Z was supercharged, peak HP is at redline unless he's got belt slippage.

I learn something new every day. Thanks Steve, I wasn't aware of that about SCers. Does the same rule of thumb hold true for Turbos?

Re: Mods: what to do next???

Not necessarily the same for turbos.

With a centrifugal supercharger (ATI, Vortech) boost is a linear function of RPMs. Higher RPMs equals higher boost. Typically, the horsepower curve follows the boost curve (unless the A/F ratio fluxuates) so in a supercharged car unless it's tuned really rich up-top you'll see max HP at redline.

On a turbo car, full boost may kick as early as 2500-3000 rpms or so, so the HP curve tends to more closely follow that of an NA car (although obviously higher). Depending on A/F ratios up top it may taper off above 5500 rpms.

Re: Mods: what to do next???

I noticed you don't have a camber kit yet. Since you lowered your car with the S-Tech's you probably need a camber kit to get your car back into spec. That is my understanding anyway. From everything I've read only the H-Techs allow you to lower your car with adding a camber kit.

Hum....Lets see. A FULL body kit. Some angel eyes(from me), cats, headers, plenum, Pulleys(if u think they are worht it), internal?(rebuild engine?), navi, screens, change the speakers inside the car, CF hood, Big brake kit, Full coilover suspension. Thats all i can think of right now.
