My car overheated!
My car overheated!
I need some help. I have a 2004 sedan and it about 37k miles. Today i drove it about 60 miles to my destination and 60 miles back i didnt hard drive it or anything, just cruised at about 75. Right as i get back in town i noticed the engine got a little loud. i then looked at my temperature need and it was at 3/4 and it was slowly moving up and then the overheating message popped up on the navi as i was around the corner from my house. since the infiniti dealership is a little less then 4 miles away i drove it there and right as i got there it started smoking a little. this happened when i owned a lexus and it was just the waterpump but tat was also at 147k miles. Im glad i got extended warranty im just wondering if anybody else had this problem or might know. the lady at the service department said it could be cause its been due for an oil change, which i went ovr a by a little over 1500miles and it was actually supposed to go in on saturday to get that done. if anybody can help that would be great. thanks.
It is likely to be from low oil if you haven't changed your oil in a while...
if this is determined to be the cause and there is damage to the vehicle, your warranty will not help save you from them
Hope to hell that its ANYTHING but that. May not be damaged at all either...but you need to stay on top of the oil levels.

Generally Nissan oem thermostats fail in a way that slows engine warm up or doesn't allow engine to fully warm up in winter by design.
Failure to change oil every 180 days or 7499.9 miles is legal reason to void engine warranty. What most don't seem to understand is owners have a legal obligation to maintain a full oil level in between changes...........even if the engine is using/leaking oil.
Always make sure you maintain levels prior to dropping off at dealers because you don't want a statement like "car was 2.5 quarts low" on vehicle permanent record.
Obviously conducting an oil consumption test is a different case.
