Purlator PureOne oil filter...

Hi all,

Not sure where I should post this but figure if anyone is picking up Pureone oil filter soon, they are offering rebates (limit 2 per household).

http://www.pureoil.com/documents/reb...0240_WebV1.pdf

Happy Thanksgiving!

Purlator Oil Filters....?

This is the same oil filter Kragen auto parts offers free with 5 quarts of
Pensoil for $9.99, how good could they be. You're better off using OEM
filters rather than a cheap POS like Purlator! I refuse to put anything on
my car that's not the best available which doesn't include Purlator....

They have the basic Purolator oil filter and the Purolator Pureone oil filter (it's the premium edition). I've never used it but stores usually sell them for about $6 bucks give or take so it's not "exactly" POS. Look at post# 17 http://www.6mt.net/forum/g35-coupe/9...4x-pics-2.html . Kragen may be offering the basic Purolator oil filter.

The OEM filter is no better than the $2.00 filter at the Oil Change place.

I actually exclusively use the Purolator PureONE filters on my G35 and CBR600. I have found them to work great. They actually have some of the highest filtering capabilities of all oil filters. "The Best" of anything is very subjective, so the best for you might not be the best for someone else. Now I have not used the Purolator Premium Plus (ones included in the Kragen ad) so I cannot comment, but the PureONE's I use are their highest end filter.

LOL, do you have any proof to back up this comment? The OEM filters are one of the WORST filter designs, with its fram like construction and cardboard endcaps, while the purolator pureone is one of the best

I used to use the PureOne filters. they are good filters. I now use NAPA Gold filters (made by WIX), though.

I perform a Used Oil Analysis (Blackstone Labs) with every oil change, and the results are always great. Good oil and a good filter = great results.

The Puralator Pure ONE is actually a very good filter. Studies have been done and it ranks near the top

Ford uses them as their OEM filter. They use a PureONE cartridge in a premium case and slap the Ford motorcraft brand on it.

I will be using a Pureone when i do my first oil change.

So what is the PureOne part number for the G35 oil filter ('05 coupe)?

Gary, I'm sorry to disagree... but the PureOne filter is actually very, VERY good. I use it or Napa (made by Wix) exclusively.

BTW, the Nissan filter is total junk. There have been lots of threads and studies on filters... I saw cutaways of the Nissan (which of course they don’t make, but I forget who does) - and several others... PureOne and Wix were the standouts...

Having that been said - I would not use any other
Purolator filter. Just PureOne.

The oil & oil filter subject has been beaten to death on these boards. Do a search and there are some links to independent tests done on different oils and filters. If you are undecided or find the choices overwhelming, go with the OEM Nissan filter, that way anything happens to the engine due to a lubrication problem, you will have no hassles with warranty work.

Not sure of the part number but if you shop around for PureOne filters in Advance Auto, Autozone, Pep Boys or any of the big box auto parts retail shops, they usually have a part number reference guide for oil filters next to the oil filter shelf. That's where I refer to when I buy oil or air filters.

PL14610 for the extended, bigger than stock size.
PL14612 for the stock size.

I recommend the PL14610, bigger is better
