Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

That's very interesting. So all they had to do was get the correct key codes? That's it? Basically just plug and play? How much was the dealer labor? I'm sure the 350z ecu uses a bit more aggresive timing map which should give some gains that you described. Have you dynoed before and after? Congrats on the good work.

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

The had to re-set the new ecu to accept the existing key transmitter. Totally plug and play. Dealer charged me 1.2 hrs labour....$ 101.20 . The timing and fuel maps are different from the Z. The combination of the ecu and a more restrictive exhaust make the difference between the 287 hp rating on the Z and the 260 hp rating for the sedan. I dynoed last year on a
Dyna-pak and got 240 hp at the wheels. That was with plenum, test pipes, injen CAI, and coupe center exhaust. I will get it dynoe'd again...but I have DC headers being shipped so I may wait until after those are installed.

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

Please don't take this the wrong way ... but I think it may be prudent that you dyno prior to the DC header install. Otherwise, if you do post some gains, you'd be kicking yourself wondering what and how much gain is from the header or the ECU.

Just my .02

Keep up the good work. I'd be very interested in how this plays out and is especially curious in how this holds against the the Technosqure ECU.

DO you have any other mods? Any chance you can dyno with the 350 ecu on?

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

I have an Injen CAI, plenum, test pipes, grounding kit and coupe exhaust center section. I have called my dyno guy and hope to dyno in the next few days.

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

I agree. If you are going to dyno to see what the 350z ecu does then you should dyno with that new mod only combined with all the mods that you previously dynoed with. And even then it might still be a little dicey being that the two dynos will have too many varying factors involved between the two. Still, logically one would think the 350z ecu will yield some gains.

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

the technosquare program for the G's are the same program for the 350Z. i think. you may want to check that as there have been many variations of the program out now.

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

Dyno'd the car last night

245.34 Max Power
229.85 Max torque

A/F ratio stayed above 14.0 until 4400 rpms and then dips into the 13's until end of run.

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

Is this too lean? How can we or should be be running at 10:1 or 11 to 1 - hell even 12?

Re: 350Z-g35 ecu swap completed!

Naturally aspirated should be in the 13's under load. I think you are confused with forced induction....they like to see the 11's under boost.

I'm assuming this number's from a DynoJet? ... if so, it doesn't look too bad to me at all. Don't be discouraged with what appears to be only a 5hp gain. I'm quite familiar with the Dyna-pak unit that you used for the 'before' number. They bolt on directly to the wheel hub, in effect taking the wheel and it's mass as well as O.D. out of the equation, thus arriving at higher numbers than the DynoJets. In essence, the figure you had were rear-axle horsepower rather than rear wheel horsepower.

Again, 245 is pretty healthy ... that equates to roughly 300hp to the crank, assuming 18% drivetrain loss that we have extrapolated from the many runs in the past.

Might I suggest ditching the stock sedan muffler next? I'd imagine serveral more hp is locked up in there.
