Re: Electronic Service Manual

Couple of things if you do this that potentially could happen.

1- Infiniti Finds out and they come after you and I. I am sure they have people that watch our posts.
2- This one is probably happening already, because of this post and the eBay stuff- They put the Acrobat Security key on every CD they sell from now on so it will only work once and even if it is copied you need to get the key from them. They already do this for the dealer copies, so it IS possible.
3- Every CD has what looks like a serial number on it, they back track that number and goes after the original purchaser. Like Me!
4- This is screwing it up for everyone that bought the original without the intention of making a profit, but to share only enough to offset the cost.

Hate to sound like a party pooper but such is life when the facts are stated.

Re: Electronic Service Manual

Lots of opportunity for those that want to find a pirated copy of anything they want including the ESM for the G35. Just do a search for the usual sources. Unfortunately, this being a public forum, we cannot ethically condone this which could potentially open us up for legal repercussions. What members do in private e-mails is up to them. 'Nuf Said?

Re: Electronic Service Manual

Here is my opinion, right now I have a coupe ESM, There is nothing unethical about copying the manual. people always do it. $200 for a CD you wanna pay for it? I definitely dont, I rather buy a intake.

The sedan ESM you guys will need to find. As for mine, anyone want to pay me? hahaha..

I have it for personal use and didnt plan on selling it but if some of you coupe owners need one, we can CALCULATE haha

Anyway, you guys can drive pass speed limit violating traffic laws but not dare to copy a cd on your computer? interesting

Re: Electronic Service Manual

Glad you got what you paid for. We could debate this issue to death and everyone still wouldn't be happy.
Like GORDGEE said, what you do privately is your business.
But how does breaking the speed limit compare to purchasing a software that specifically says by breaking the seal you agree to comply with the licensing agreement and usage. I for one did not sign a Police document agreeing not to break the speed limit here and there.
Don't take this as an attack, it is not, just stating my feelings and since we are all individuals we differ in those too.

Re: Electronic Service Manual

The difference is that if the admins allow us to talk about copying pirated software on the forum, they can become liable themselves, as the forum is becoming the means of exchange. So, while ethics can be argued 'til you're blue in the face, the fact is it's illegal. And unfortunately, the current Digital Millenium Copyright Act goes too far in how much leeway it gives the owners of said digital copyrighted material. So, do us all a favor and stop discussing the copying and reselling of the ECM in these forums. We don't want to make these guys liable to the point of shutting down these boards. "Take it outside." Re: Electronic Service Manual

When you got your license you agreed to obey traffic laws. When you buy a software, you never sign a agreement either. BY USING IT, in such as same as using your privilege in driving, you take that right and AGREE to follow the terms. If not you are violating regardlessly.

Don't make it sound like I'm not making a point... I know exactly what I'm talking about, Besides it was just a comparison. Again, i never mentioned about selling anything to anyone. So thats that. Nothing more to say.

Re: Electronic Service Manual

Yeah.. lets chill..
the bottom line is that software piracy IS illegal. I and others who post on this forum dont want to get this forum in any kind of trouble... i <3 this forum.. anyways.. so your saying.. "yeah but i diddnt buy the copy of microsoft office on my home computer..and nothing has happened to me for the past five years.." .. yeah that might be true.. everyone copies micro$oft products.. and you konw what.. M$ chooses not to care about the consumers who do it.. they do care about the corporations who they fine up the A$!! for software piracy..

so bottom line.. lets chill.. and no copying of cds publicly on this forum.. if you wanna do it.. great. have fun.. dont talk about it..

:> I think that makes sense.. i dont konw tho.. it does to me..

Re: Electronic Service Manual

Actually, they do care, or haven't you noticed the "Activation" feature going into their new software suites and operating systems?

Re: Electronic Service Manual

Don't take things so seriously, you guys would be happier people. Making copies and selling them are illegal, in ways circulating them are too. Technically you shouldn't buy either, but that's no concern to others not involved. So since we have many people that believe what I'm saying is the only way to go, I have posted a link where you can purchase the ESM direct from Nissan for $200.00

http://www.nissan-techinfo.com

See?! Now everyone is happy, we never talked about anything that wasn't suppose to be talked about.

Re: Electronic Service Manual

I wonder how the "official" manual compares to a Hayne's....

Re: Electronic Service Manual

I've got the Sedan ESM and it's fairly straighforward and very comprehensive.:P) Haynes is good and usually more user friendly but I haven't seen it on the shelf yet. It would certainly be more reasonably priced!

Re: Electronic Service Manual

No, the thing that monitors your hardware and connects to Microsoft, where you have to call in if you don't have a modem or if you swap out too much hardware on your machine. It's quite a bit more than a simple CD key. Not saying that there aren't ways around it, of course. But it is definately helping MS get more revenue from the average consumer.
