trimming down the 30,000 mile service--

whats up guys, I need to do maintenance on my coupe but cash is low. Dealer is charging about $550 for the 30k service including an oil change.

Now, I dont need you guys to refer me to a service manual b/c I wont be doing any difficult things myself.

I just wanna know what is truly essential in this service.

if you go here:

http://www.infiniti.com/ownership/ma...ance_Schedules

and look under 30k service, it will tell you what is included. My dealer only offers the "premium" service but is willing to work out a package for me.

Any advice? I plan on replacing the in-cabin air filter myself. Some of the stuff I dont need, like replacing the wiper blades. THANKS!

you probably don't need
1) hinges lubed
2) coolant flush
3) drive belts
4) radiator cap

you might even be able to trim off more

the in-cabin microfilter is super easy, and you get one at autozone for like 8 bucks

$550 isn't as high as other quotes I've seen on the forums.

Here's what I'm planning on doing myself and what I'm going to go to the dealer for. I'm not going to an Infiniti dealer though, probably Nissan since they're cheaper (and closer).

DIY:
Oil change
Clean air filter (I have a popcharger)
Replace in-cabin filter
Replace wipers

Dealer:
Everything else

The Nissan dealer I went to last time did all the inspections free of charge so I only ended up paying for tire rotation. Hopefully I'll get an equally good deal this time as well.

What driving conditions do you regularly drive under? If it's mostly hwy and you don't drive short trips just go with the schedule 2 maintenance plan. It's basically what you're doing yourself anyways. You won't even have to take it to the dealership.

^+1 Depends on the driving you do but thats smart to trim down the DIY and then bring the rest to the dealer.

Woooah.

You need to come to us. We're (quite) a bit less expensive.

I'd go to Nissan but they stopped charging less than Infiniti. I'll have to talk to them again.

I really gotta learn how to do the oil change myself--they charge $40 bucks now instead of 30.

Cleaning the air filter, ill have to youtube that one.

You should hit up R&D Factory, they're doing a maintenance special 30k service for 300 bucks. I just had mine done there a week ago.

Unhappy Omg!

Wow!

Come on folks!

Buy some tools, buy (or download) a manual and start doing you own work! Start with some simple stuff and work your way up to more involved repairs and maintenance. You will save a TON of money and gain the satisfaction of doing it yourself. save your receipts and keep good records.

High end auto dealers (Audi, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti etc) have created a image that you need to be some sort of rocket scientists to work on their cars. Total BS! Our cars are actually very easy to work on.
