Koyo Racing Radiator Question

I'm going to test fit a Koyo Radiator at a local shop.
My car is 5AT but the shop guy said its not a problem.
So i did some research online and it said that Koyo Radiators are made for Manual transmissions so automatics need a transmission oil cooler.

What should I do? The shop says i should be fine but i'm not so sure.

If I understand.. the shop is saying that you are fine without a transmission cooler? If that is the case; find a new shop. I would not want to run a very expensive transmission that came from the factory with a cooler without one.

It is no big deal to add an aftermarket cooler.

The big koyo will not fit the stock mounting points as it is for a 350z. You will have to mount it differently or cut the mounting tabs. I mounted mine using a big washer into the ac condenser mounts. Pulls in the condenser tight and holds the radiator good.

Buy an aftermarket trans cooler, it's easy to install. You WILL need one. No question about it.

Are you forced inducted? If you are, you need an external tranny cooler regardless. You better get one. If you're not FI, why are you buying a bigger radiator? Stock is fine even for track days, as long as you're not FI.

thanks for the replies

i'm pretty much stock and NA
the reason i'm getting the radiator is because i'm getting it for free.
I was at the shop with my friend and they said they needed a test fit for G35 so they offered the radiator test fit to me...all i have to do is pay for labor.

If you have no FI plans and it isn't free it isn't worth it IMO. As I said, you NEED a trans cooler.

Did you install your Koyo Radiator yet?
How did the installation go? ....any problems?
Also, is this the 52mm unit (for the 350Z)??

Got it installed 2-3 weeks ago
I was riding dirty without a cooler for a week but the ECU was actin' up like crazy so we decided to retrofit a powersteering cooler from a 350Z as my transmission oil cooler.
Works like a charm now
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
