Maintenance-6MT Coupe

Just curious because I just bought my 6MT coupe recently...

but its due for an oil change, anyone know what the charge is through the dealership? Also, I bought it used and I just hit 30,000 miles, is there a recommended servicing for 30K?

THANKS!!

Re: Maintenance-6MT Coupe

In Memphis the oil change is like 38 bucks. 30,000 sounds like a major service but I don't have my G35 coupe manual with me. Did you get one??? The information should be there.

Yes they have a 30k type service in your local dealership available. Oil changes ic Calif usually run 45 bucks. Some advice, dont go to jiffy lube

LOL....I will NEVER go to Jiffy Lube....when I was 16, i got a brand new Ford Ranger Splash 4.0L V6, fully loaded, blah blah....I took it there for my SECOND oil change (1st was free at Ford)... I didn't know anything about owning a vehicle, so they said I needed my transmission fluid changed, so I said OK, well, they put some sort of Gear oil in the tranny and I think I got about a few hundred miles on it before I couldn't even shift the truck anymore... needless to say, I took it back to Ford and they found the problem, and Jiffy Lube paid the bill....$1,200

Personally, I think all those service interval "menus" the dealers put together are a load of BS! If you really look at what they do, it's mostly....check hoses, check this, check that....refill washer fluid....etc. all for a few hundred bucks! Skip that and just tell them what you want. You could probably get another 10-15K before you need to start changing other fluids (tranny, rear, etc). Whatever you do, don't let them make you believe you can drive 100K on the same antifreeze and plugs.

Take care of your G and your G will take care of you!

Re: Maintenance-6MT Coupe

Depends on how long you want rotating things to last after the warranty.

You bought used so I would immediately change every drop of fluid and every filter in every system: Engine oil, coolant, PS, ATF/manual fluid, brake/traction/abs, & diff.

When do you want an AC failure.......examination of [a sample of] the 6 ounces that lubes the compressor is always a good idea to prolong above 100k life.

I like to change my receiver dryer and reoil the system at least every 60k/4 years..........got 235k on last compressor still on oem evap at 14 years 265k.

Waiting too long to change lubes is the bane of buying used but you bought early compaired to most. Good.

That way you only have yourself to blame if something fails early -- before 250,000 miles!
