What are the consequences of undertightening your belts?
And I dont mean the effect of your pants falling off.
I'm talking about your pulley belts. I just changed them out, and I'm not sure if I overtightened. I had a major squeal problem before, but now its gone. For good I hope.

OOPS, I meant to say "Overtighten."
I suppose it would cause a lack of power (voltage) or possible breakage. Hope I dont get any of that! Hmm. if anyone has a belt tension guage around Arcadia, CA.....

Over tighten?
If you over tighten the belts, they will fail quicker due additional heat from friction. You also will run the risk of putting addtional stress on the bearings in the A/C compressor, alternator and the power steering water pumps.
Follow the FSM specifications.

alrighty. so this is what I've noticed.
After changing and tightening my belts (probably overly so), my radio takes longer to turn on. I have an aftermarket headunit, amp, as well as speakers. I think it takes longer for the amp to get enough power to start powering the speakers.
Basically, what this means is that the strain on my power system is a lot harder. Just for future reference.
