Cleaned TB - High Idle

Ok, so about 4 weeks ago i cleaned my TB with CRC TB cleaner. Apparently it caused some problems with the TB because at this point I can no longer get the idle to drop below 800 rpms in park. Its kicking a CEL and i can feel all the down shifts as I'm slowing...revs jump up and the car surges forward for 1/2 a sec.

I bought a throtte body to replace mine from a guy off of 350Z. He swears that it was a good TB from a working car when he sold it to me. I installed it. NO DICE. It wouldn't relearn idle air volume. I took it to the dealer, they could not get it to learn idle air volume.

I bought ANOTHER TB from a online vendor who remanufactures TBs. Once AGAIN, it won't relearn idle.

I'm going friggin NUTS over here!

You have to reset the ECU and do the throttle reset. These TB's are very, very sensitive and you cannot touch or move the throttle plate at all.

I haven't touched the throttle plate.

I have reset the ECU 2093827520394857234 times, followed immediately performing the close idle position and idle air volume relearn. It may be 2093827520394857233 times, not sure cuz I lost count.

you also have to do the accelerator peddle released position learning and throttle valve closed position learning before you do either of those. Thing is, I'm sure the dealer knew that....but you never know.

well...the accelerator pedal release position is so that you can do the rest of the resets.

The throttle closed position is simply turning on the ignition, then off and waiting with key in off position for 10 sec.

I've done all the necessary resets. So has the dealer. I just can't figure out wtf is going on...

You mentioned a CEL- did the dealer pull the code? Is this why you decided to replace the TB?

Unlikely, but your issue sounds like a vacuum leak.

Vacuum leak generally have erradic idle. Mine is not erradic, just high.

The CEL code we pulled was P0507 which is throttle position sensor.

I swapped TB's with my friend who has a 350z and idle dropped perfectly back to normal.

I've tried swapping mine and the replacements I got into his 350z, none worked on his car either.

Unhappy

Tollboothwilley, did you ever get this fixed? I'm having the same problem and the dealer can't get it to relearn the idle either. I bought a remanufactured TB and still have the same code.

You all will have to go to the dealer and have the reset the computer to relearn due to all of the deposit inside the throtle body being removed. This happened to me as well once.

P0507 is high idle speed, P2135 is the TPS.

Smile Problem solved

It looks like the remanufactured throttle body that I got was defective. No matter what the dealer tried, they couldn't get it to relearn the idle. I gave them my original TB to try, which I thought was damaged when I cleaned it, and they were finally able to set the idle.

I guess remanufactured throttle bodies are no good.
