SSV "Velocity" Questions

http://www.kinetixracing.com/new-ssv...zg3503-06.aspx

2006 MT Coupe here:

A couple questions. In my search through the forums I have found numerous posts on the old SSV manifold mainly saying that if you are N/A and would like this for looks you are probably going to lose some horsepower.

I was looking at dressing up my engine bay some while adding power, and I like the idea of a plenum spacer or the MREV2 but when I see this thing, I love the looks of it while attaching a polished air intake system like Injen.

Does anyone know anything about this "new" version? I can't seem to find any posts on it.

Would this new one provide as much power as a spacer/Kinetix v+ Plenum normally would?

I have a hard time justifying dressing up with engine with this mod if it isn't going to give me any sort of performance upgrade, like a spacer, at all.

My car is N/A with no other mods YET... though I am looking at FI down the road, so that also leads more reason to look at this option.

Any helpful insight into this would be great. thanks!

It doesn't look that they changed anything that would really make the ssv a better product. For you it's completely not worth the money. Really if you don't have cams, this product is only for show. This still doesn't do anything for the FI guys, so spend your money elsewhere.

Every company attempts to put out their own plenum, attempting to re-invent the wheel. None of the aftermarket plenums do anything more than what a plenum spacer and mrev does. The only reason why I have one is that the SSV looks cool, and I bought mine used, so I didn't spend much at all, especially after selling my stock plenum.

if you don't believe me, go to my350z and search.

p.s. never believe what these "tuning" companies place on their websites for hp gains.....

The SSV does work and has shown good gains for higher boost applications. For N/A and low boost applications it is not worth the money.

I had the SSV on my Procharged 350z and it worked great. I saw a little more boost and boost came on sooner. I have since sold the Z and now have a APS TT G35. I'm running the APS "tall boy" intake on the G. I wonder if I should upgrade to the new Kinetix Velocity manifold? I just emailed Z1 Motorsports to get their opinion because they are an authorized APS and Kinetix dealer.
