VK50 Swap possible?

Alright guys i came up with an idea last night that just might work. I was looking into a v8 swap and the most common one would be the vk56 from the titan. One thing that i don't like about this motor is that it still produces 306 hp but you get i believe 380 tq and its a low reving motor peak hp at 5800. Then i remembered the new fx come with a 5.0 v8 which i believe makes 383hp at 6800 and 370tq at 3800. Correct me if im wrong but the vk50 and vk56 would have the same block just that the vk56 is stroked/ bored more then the vk50.

I know vkmasters.com sell a adapter plate for the 6mt tranny, Twin plate clutch, performance cams, and ITB for the vk56 which to my knowledge there should be no reason why all those parts wont match up to the vk50 which would make this swap possible for us and keep our 6mt trans. If you swap in the vk50 with ITB's and cams get a tune (standalone) you should be pushing past the 400hp and 400tq area and your still N/A keeping up with the stock block FI guys with alot more potential =) Also cp pistons already make low compression pistons for the vk50 so if you feel the need to turbo it theres parts out there already

If you pick up this motor do the whole swap yourself sell your vq35 you will spend roughly about the same price that would cost to slap on a bolt on turbo kit and you don't have to worry if you get a bit excited that a rod is gonna fly out your block

IMHO, I couldn't give a rat's titty about Infiniti sound if I had a LS2 + headers/reflash and an open exahust. V8 modded exhausts sound bad arsed.

wouldn't the VK50/56 swap add a lot of weight to the front end? the 6mt G sedan has a near-neutral weight balance front/rear. this is one of the factors that attributes to the handling prowess of the G. while the added muscle of the VK would be nice, i think the negative impact to the overall handling (and braking) capabilities would more than offset any straightline gains.

this is why folks wanting big power gains slap on a turbo/sc, which doesn't add much weight.

That's the kit that Drift Emporium's G35 is using. . .I'm considering this as well, but not for G or Z. . .

and I think Chris Forsberg is using something similar to this kit in his Z. . .he never specified though. . .

It will work, depends as well on how much time and money you're willing to make it happen. . .

ANYTHING is possible with enough money. I'm with Jeff. The swap will require a crazy amount of time and money. Why not go with an LSX motor which is:

1) Cheap and easy to source
2) Reliable
3) Tiny and compact compared to the VK50 (barely longer than the VQ35)
4) Much lighter than the VK50
5) Endless modification potential like cams, headers, heads, standalone ecu's, etc. etc.

Only downside is you need to source a different tranny.

I agree about the weight difference. If it is just too much or negate-able

And the LSX is shorter, narrower, and lighter than the VK56 It has far fewer moving parts too.

I don't see that as a bad thing since the Asisn/Warner 6MT in the G/Z is an utter POS

It's not the quietest or smoothest tranny out there, but what makes you go as far as to call it a "POS"?
