Parking light and DRL

Is your parking light the Daytime running lights???

The reason I am asking this is that I want to mod the car so that the little light bulb between the DRL and the low beam would light up immediately when I start the car, turn off when DRL is on and on again when the Xenon is on.

Any ideas??

Re: Parking light and DRL

simple answer: we dont have day time running lights.

i just leave my lights on all the time. they turn off bout 10 mind after you turn the car off and they turn back on when you turn the key to the on position, before starting the car. so when you start the car they are on.

Re: Parking light and DRL

Canadian DRLs on the G35 are the high-beams at reduced voltage. They turn off when the headlights go on.

I wish the "Auto" mode was more like my Lexus. In the daytime, it's DRL and at night it's regular lights. And there is a special set of commands to enable or disable this feature.

At a minimum, the DRL should be on when you turn on your wipers.

Re: Parking light and DRL

If you own a Canadian G35, you should know what I am talking about. There is a very small bulb that accompanies the Xenon when it is turned on. It is of a yellowish color. I want that bulb to maybe turn on when the car starts and off when DRL is on and on again when Xenon is on.

Re: Parking light and DRL

There is a mod for Zs that you can change the bulb to any other LED colors (blue, red, green, white) which would look real good for showing purposes. Imagine the housing glowing blue without any other light when you start the car.

Re: Parking light and DRL

personally, if the car did not come with drl originally, i would not turn on the lights. The xenons have a limited life span, and they are pricey to replace. Unless you live in mountainous areas or places with a lot of turns, there is no point in having drl..

What are you talking about?
First of all the Xenon bulb and the DRL bulb are completely different things.

That's what Nissan calls the 'Clearance Light'. I replaced mine with a PIAA Xtreme White since I didn't like the colour. Except for being on when the car starts, doesn't it already work that way? ie. "off when DRL is on and on again when Xenon is on."

Re: Parking light and DRL

Exactly Gord, it works every bit the same except for on when the car starts. I want to change it to a blue LED light so it would light up itself when the car starts.

Re: Parking light and DRL

You can check my MOD link in my sig for the LEDs and PIAAs part numbers that change out my parking "city light"s and fog/high beams.

Cheers, ted

P.S. and yes, those of you with Xenons should not use the "Auto" feature as overpasses cause them to cycle on and off. That will limit their life. Either turn them on and leave them on or only run them at night.

Renesis:

I was referring to SFLG35's post where he says he leaves his light on all the time.. I know that they are different bulbs, I'm saying that for owners without drl that they should not leave their lights on all the time

Re: Parking light and DRL

SocalTed, How did you have the LED on by itself??
I can't manage to turn it on by itself ONLY.
It is always lighted with the Xenon.

Re: Parking light and DRL

My sedan has a "parking light" setting on the turn indicator stick. I believe the settings, in order are, AUTO | PARKING | ON
