Engine oil - Conventional or switch to Synthetic?

So my G has just hit 30k and I feel like its time to do some fluid changes (Engine oil, tranny fluid, diff fluid, radiator fluid)

First off my car is my daily driver, I commute on the freeway everyday and around town with plans of future track/autox events down the line. Now my car has been running on conventional oil since day one (Mobil 1 5W-30), but I wanted to switch to a synthetic oil in the motor. I heard that the seals after using conventional their entire life could cause leaking by switching to a synthetic due the smaller molecule size. I searched but with multiple results so im looking for a more solid answer. Will I have problems if I go with synthetic?

Im planning on going with Castrol GTX 5W-30 (about 5 quarts?) if I should choose to stay with conventional.

What id like to switch to is Castrol Syntec 5W-30.

Im also planning on going with purolator pureone plus oil filter (Purolator Part #
L14610, the slightly larger one) or perhaps amsoil. Any suggestions between the two?

Also decided to go with Amsoil - Synthetic MTF 75W-90 API GL-4 (4 quarts) for my 6MT tranny.

As well as Amsoil - Long Life Synthetic Gear Lube SAE 75W-90 (2 quarts) for the VLSD.

Im also thinking of using Amsoil air filter and mirco cabin filter.

Any opinions, insight or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

As far as Jmatic I saw that for auto trannys...I have a 6MT and also found a lotta people using the very same fluid. So im pretty confident in that, personally it was a toss up between Amsoil and Redline. My buddy used to use redline in his G before he sold it and his tranny felt good but I hear even better things about the Amsoil.

As far as the motor oil I would never switch from synthetic to conventional. I ran synthetic in all my cars and would like to do so in the G just for the peace of mind. Mobil is what I used on all of my M3's but after doing some searching supposedly Castrol Synthetic out performs the Mobil (at least in these VQ35DE? Something about the German motors being designed to use a high velocity such as xW-40 while the G uses xW-30 in order for the oil to reach the correct areas in the motor)

Mobil is a good brand so I would feel comfortable using it as well I just want to make sure I wont start leaking oil.

This is motor oil right? What difference does you not DD'ing your car make that you would switch to amsoil over mobil 1?

Ive used Mobile one for everything and never really give Amsoil or Lucas a shot. I figure while i got it up on jacks ill try something different. It not being my DD is simply stating that I obviously dont drive it much and baby the hell out of it and only want the best.

I was always a strict Mobil 1 synthetic oil fan, and I have noticed as my miles racked up (92,000 miles on Mobil 1 Synthetic) my car just didn't feel as smooth as it once did. It was obvious some deposits have settled in the engine and it wasn't as smooth during idle as it once was. After seeing the super bowl ad for Castrol Edge I decided I could definatly use some mechanic monkeys to help me out, so I went out and grabbed a case of Castrol Edge and proceeded on with my oil change. Upon start-up I immediatly noticed how much quieter my engine was, and after sitting inside the car, idling for about 10 minutes, I noticed how much smoother the engine seemed to operate. Maybe this was all just the placebo-effect, but thats my .02

I hear Castrol Edge is German Castrol just in a different bottle but I could be wrong...Build up also has me worried even though im only at 30k, I like to catch things before they grow into bigger problems. I was thinking of maybe using sea foam before the oil change.

What oil do you use?

I do not change my own oil changes and take my '05 sedan (5AT) to the Infiniti dealership (where the price recently went from $40 to $50). They use Kendall GT-1 Synthetic Blend according to the sticker they leave on the car windshield.

I am considering taking the car to another, much closer garage that does respectable work, to get my oil changed.

Should I stick with the same oil type? With warmer weather on our heels I will leave the best decision to the mechanics but I am curious what you guys use, and your oil recommendations (and what NOT to use).

thanks.

Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Syntec, Mobile 1 synthetic oils will all work fine. I believe there was a thread that concluded Pennzoil Platinum was the best for our VQ35DE engines, but in the end, as long as it's a reputable brand like those three I listed, you will be fine.
