OEM Front Lip installation question
OEM Front Lip installation question
i just received my factory front lip and would like to install this, but i read the instructions to see what tools i need to finish the job. What's a center punch, gum tape, round file? Can I get by w/o those? and another part that doesnt make sense is, in the manual it says to remove the air lip and bottom cover and says keep it in a safe place cause you will need it later, but after that it doesnt mention anything about putting those pieces back on.
I cut out the templates, so do you drill 4 holes into the bumper? or 6? Cuz on the front lip i bought, it has 4 bolts coming out of it, but in the manual it says to drill a total of 6 holes into the bumper (not talking about the side wheel cover part, just the front)... the template for the side has 2 crosses right next to each other and i am confused here... why drill 2 holes right next to each other?

Re: OEM Front Lip installation question
i dont have any experience installing this on a new bumper but i have removed mine and reinstalled it.
the reason for the 2 holes side by side is that the lip is a tight fit (which is good). the elongated holes will allow some play with the end bolts when you slip the lip over the bumper.
you will be removing and replacing the under diffuser. the easiest way to do this is with the car jacked up. this will make it much easier to drill as well.
also, i first attempted to take the lip off with the bumper still attached. i dont know how other people did this and still secured the nuts. there are 2 nuts that are difficult to access because the foam blocks in the way. i ended up taking the bumper off and it made the job 5x easier.
