Knock Gauge Question

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good knock gauge? I have been looking at the following product but wanted to get some input from you guys.

I know that several Z owners have had success with the J&S box that actually retards timing on the fly when it senses knock. Gurgen is planning to get one of these. There's a guy who lives near me who is working with John @ J&S on a custom box for the VQ35. More details when I have them...

That looks like a nice setup. Would you see this working with the R4 as well -or- replacing R4 all together?
